Vehicle Detail

I used this car as a daily driver for 12 months. It gets a sweet gas mileage 29-32 mpg on the freeway driving 75 mpH. It has developed a noise on the right rear wheel and my mechanic took the wheel off and says it is the rear wheel bearing. The parts are around $100, but a shop will charge you around $500 including work. The car runs fine, starts great and shuts off immediately. We fixed over the last 12 months all vacuum leaks. The diesel injection pump is almost new. The AC works, all windows and the sun-roof work. Electrical seat adjustments work. It sometimes only starts on Neutral, but then starts on Park again (probably a contact problem). The thermometer in the cluster is not working (maybe the sensor), but the car never overheated. All lights work. The tires need replacement. It has a new right front suspension, was recently aligned but I didn't change the tires, so they show still the wear of being disaligned. Mercedes Benz replaced the whole exhaust system with the diesel catalyst and refurbished the Turbo charger honoring a recall from the 90s. Those are parts worth around $4000 that went in there from factory stock brand new! This car has a salvaged title from a leasing company auctioning off the car back in the days. It was for years registered in California and I had it recently renewed for 63 bucks! It does not need SMOG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The pre-owner had it prepared for running on vegetable oil and installed a blockheater for it, but he told me he never actually used vegetable oil and I didn't either, because I heard it gums up the engine and the car has a great gas mileage as is (pretty impressive for a 2400 lbs German Tank!). The dashboard has the usual California heat cracks and I bought a mat over it.The car is clean over all, the seats are in good shape for its age, no rips or tares. The odometer reads 145 104, but I had a receipt from 2006 showing it with 176 000, so I figured it had around 200 000 when I bought it and I did put 16 000 miles on it, so I won't lie to you. IF YOU HAVE THE TIME AND A PLACE TO WORK ON IT THIS IS A GREAT DEAL! My wife retired, kids are gone and we don't need it any more and I don't have the time to put all my spare parts that I bought for over $750 into it, so I decided to sell it as is, where is as a project for somebody else. I used to have a place where I could have my mechanic work on my cars, that's gone, so the car is sitting at the curb since 4 weeks. If you can do the work on this car yourself, you'll get quite some equity. If you have your mechanic fix the rear wheel bearing and put in all the good part I acquired for it you'll get a car that will drive you wherever you want to go safely and cheap. We did put in a new battery, replaced the saging driver seat lower part, replaced a cracked tail light and the two bad looking front lights, the rear view mirror, the sun visors and other little goodies. We replaced the Vacuum Control Valve ($150+) that controls amongst other things the transmission and fixed all vacuum leaks. I bought an extra key from Mercedes ($65) and a set of original paint for small repairs. There are a few scratches here and there and the paint is fading some places, but all in all it looks and shows pretty nice. With the paint and clear coat set you could pretty it up even more. It has recent California tags! CAR DOES RUN BUT DUE TO THE REAR WHEEL BEARING I DO NOT RECOMMEND DRIVING IT! - THE BEARING CANNOT BE FIXED AT THE CURB! DISCLOSURE: If you buy the car, it needs to be paid and picked up within two weeks. If you buy it for the BUY IT NOW price (or the auction goes higher than $1799) I will add all of the following parts for free(otherwise they will be sold seperately AND NOT BE INCLUDED and taken out of the car before it leaves, no matter what the pictures show - I will take out the radio, tool kit, first aid kit and the spare tire!!!!!! I have a uncracked dash board that would come with the car as well as front door side panels to replace the ones that are in there and show a little wear. You'll also get a complete center console climate assembly with all vacuum valves working to replace the one that is in the car and has a few bad vacuum elements. Due to that the car only blows hot and cold air out of the defroster and the side vents. I did put in a new SONY CD-Radio combination, bought an original Mercedes tool kit, a rim and a spare tire, all manuals and the First Aid Kit. I have three books (repair manuals) and a stack of copies for pretty much everything that you will ever need. I have a set of CD's and DVD's with the Mercedes part catalog and drawings and knowledge base and how to handle, refill and maintain the A/C and I have the gauges and valves to work with Freeze12 (this is a legal replacement for R12 without changing all the A/C components) SO IF YOU BUY IT NOW at $1799, YOU'LL get about $5000 worth of good parts that I and Mercedes Benz did put into that car and all the stuff listed above. Don't miss out on this, even if you salvage it, there is plenty of room to make some money. That's exactly what I will do, if the car does not sell here. It will block my garage for some time and be some fun work, but I'm sure I will get between 2500 and 3500 dollars in parts selling on eBay.
