1979 MERCEDES-BENZ 450SEL 6.9 - RUST-FREE CALIFORNIA CAR - BEAUTIFUL INTERIOR: I AM OFFERING MY 1979 MERCEDES-BENZ 450SEL 6.9 LITER SEDAN FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION. THE CAR HAS COVERED AN AVERAGE OF LESS THAN 5,700 MILES PER YEAR OVER THE LAST THIRTY-ONE YEARS, FOR A TOTAL OF 176,100 MILES. THIS IS A VERY SPECIAL CAR FOR A NUMBER OF REASONS, BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY BECAUSE IT HAS BEEN A CALIFORNIA CAR SINCE FIRST: The History - This car was originally purchased in Los Angeles and was owned by its original owner until 2005 when it was purchased by the owner's personal mechanic who serviced the car from new at the Mercedes dealership and then at his own independent Mercedes shop in Brentwood, CA. The mechanic was the only mechanic to work on the car. This car has had every mechanical issue tended to as needed from day one in addition to continual preventive maintenance. The car was not used extensively which certainly shows based on the excellent cosmetic and mechanical condition of the vehicle. NEXT: The Details - I am offering my outstanding 1979 Mercedes-Benz 450SEL 6.9 sedan for your consideration . This 450SEL 6.9 sedan is simply stunning in its Anthracite Metallic paint combined with its perfect original black leather seats. It is very well-equipped with all Mercedes standard power features from the period. It is fully equipped with power steering, power brakes, power windows, and climate control. The car contains the original Becker Mexico stereo AM/FM cassette and Hirschmann power antenna. If you are reading this description you are probably familiar with the legendary Mercedes-Benz 450SEL 6.9 series. It is among the most solid vehicles ever built by Mercedes and while extremely expensive when new (a bit over $50,000 in 1979), it was the fastest standard production sedan buit up through its time. Many professional automotive experts at the time touted the 6.9 as the best car in the world. There is simply no other car that can offer the combination of speed, comfort and safety. These cars are known to go for a minimum of 250,000 miles. What sets this car apart from other Mercedes 6.9s you might consider is the smooth and quiet engine, silky smooth transmission and excellent interior...to say nothing of its absolutely rust-free body and the exceptional care the car has been given over the years. This car is quiet and reliable. The car is simply a pleasure to own and drive. It is rock solid, never overheats and is spectacularly comfortable. The car is finished in a beautiful Mercedes-Benz 172 Anthracite Metallic paint with matching original black leather and the original coordinating black fientuftvelour carpeting. The condition of the paint is excellent as can be seen in the pictures. The paint appears to be mostly original. There are a few imperfections in the paint that would be expected on a thirty-one year old vehicle. The chrome is excellent and the stainless trim is also good. The interior is near pristine. The seats are excellent. The leather is supple and beautiful. The burlwood trim is in very nice condition. In terms of mechanical condition, the car is excellent. There are no leaks of any kind or exhaust leaks, no smoking, etc. The car runs perfectly and provides more than enough power for two cars its size and weight. The car tracks straight down the road with no vibration at all. The hydropneumatic suspension for which the 6.9 is famous operates as intended and gives a better ride than most brand new cars. The car has had new nitrogen spheres installed within the last 12 months. The car can cruise effortlessly at 80-85 mph all day long (or much, much faster if you like). There are simply no mechanical issues with the car whatsoever except for the cruise control. Both front and rear windshield seals have been recently replaced. All rubber on the car is good. The speedometer and all gauges work fine. The car's matching Michelin MXV tires have 70% of their tread remaining. Brakes are excellent. The car comes with two keys as well as all original ownership manuals and some of the most recent repair records. So why am I selling the car? I am expanding my collection and have decided I just can not keep every car. If you are interested in learning more about the amazing 6.9 sedans that Mercedes offered from 1976-1980, I recommend looking at the website of the International M-100 Group (http://www.m-100.cc/), as it is a treasure trove of historical and technical information on these fantastic vehicles. Keep in mind that this is not a new vehicle and that it is sold as-is, where-is with no warrantees implied, stated, or otherwise intended. You are bidding to own this vehicle, not to come and look at it after the auction has ended. I encourage bidders to come and see the car if possible. You are welcome to have the car inspected at your expense prior to the conclusion of the auction. Remember, my descriptions are based on my knowledge of the car. I cannot say that it is without flaws. I don't care what car you are looking at, it will have flaws. I can assure you that this is an excellent car that you will cherish for years to come. A non-refundable deposit of $1000 must be sent by paypal or cashier's check by FedEx within 24 hours of the conclusion of the auction. The balance must be paid within seven days of the end of the auction or upon pick-up of the car, whichever is earlier. The balance of the purchase price may NOT be made by Paypal. I will accept cash, bank wire transfer, or cashier's check only. Purchaser is responsible for pick-up or all costs related to the shipping of the car. BE ABSOLUTELY CERTAIN THAT YOU ARE SERIOUS ABOUT YOUR BID. IF YOU HAVE ZERO OR NEGATIVE FEEDBACK, YOU MUST CONTACT ME THROUGH EBAY PRIOR TO BIDDING. I WILL CANCEL YOUR BID IF YOU DO NOT. DO NOT BID ON THE CAR UNLESS YOU ARE PREPARED TO PURCHASE IT AND HAVE YOUR FUNDS IN PLACE AS YOU ARE ENTERING INTO A BINDING AGREEMENT. IF YOU FAIL TO COME AND SEE THE CAR OR HAVE IT INSPECTED BY YOUR AGENT PRIOR TO THE END OF THE AUCTION, I WILL NOT ENTERTAIN YOU CANCELLING THE SALE FOR ANY REASON ONCE THE AUCTION HAS ENDED. IT IS THE PURCHASER'S DUTY TO PERFORM HIS OR HER OWN DUE DILIGENCE PRIOR TO THE END OF THE AUCTION. I RESERVE THE RIGHT TO END THIS AUCTION EARLY. I WILL ALSO ASSIST PURCHASER IN ARRANGING SHIPPING TO ANY PLACE IN THE WORLD AT THE PURCHASER'S EXPENSE. Please feel free to ask any questions you might have. I will consider your request to add a buy it now feature to the auction. You can reach me at:(276)971-5080.
