Vehicle Detail

Beautiful, well-cared for and well-maintained 1968 Scout V8 266 engine, manual 4 speed transmission, a new clutch (rockwell 11in instead of a 10"), 4 wheel drive twin stick transfer case (left stick is for rear diff and right stick is for front diff). Front diff is a Dana 27 enclosed knuckle, rear diff is a Dana 30 ratio is 41 11 or 3.73, drum brakes both axles, original hub caps, all original running gear. Exterior is a freshly painted metallic teal (majestic teal from NCS) very similar to the orginal, a little more metal flake, top is bright white removed all the windows in the top for painting and installed new rubber gaskets for windows during install. Painted the inside of the top also. Had the Tailgate hand painted and the sides pinstriped, it really helped to break it up. The paint job isn't perfect, a few scratches dings etc Pictures will show you. Painted most of the chassis matte black (undercarriage). Painted the wheels, cleaned up the bumpers, painted the rear bumper, front isn't perfect but they both look good. Removed the intake to re-seal push rod cover, removed the valve covers also, sand blasted the push rod cover and valve covers, cleaned up the intake and carburator, painted them Red and hand painted the letters on the valve covers white. removed the top of the master brake cylinder and painted it red, under the battery had surface rust so painted it matte black. I would be proud to put it in a show as a daily driver. Checked plugs, wires, points, cap, rotor, etc... didn't find any reason to change any thing, this engine runs very strong, smokes a little blue at start up. Tranny sounds good it will cruze down the freeway at 70 mph and crawl throw the mountains, this is the ultimate SUV. Just checked all the boxes they are full. Take of the top in the summer and enjoy the day. All of the gauges work, mph, fuel level (both tanks) which work great, amp, engine temp, never overheats. Tires are in great shape 80%. Cigar lighter works, both wipers (vacuum operated), windshield washers, radio (light inside it still works) makes noise never heard anything on am, both interior lights, throttle control cable on dash, manual choke, head lights high and low beams, new covers on front and rear park lights and gaskets work great, license plate light works. Floormate inside is original as far as I can tell, IH part numbers on them, has a few rips but over all in great shape. Interior was just refinished last week, a lighter white then the top. Head liner is black, looks great!!! Back seat is not original, not even sure what it is out of, both sides recline individually very nice in the summer with the top off and to stare up in the sky. The seats are covered in vinyl, they wipe up very easily. I did not paint the interior of the body. Wing windows work good, lower vents in kick panels work, windows roll up and down smoothly. Windshield was replaced 2 weeks ago do to seperation of the glass (looked foggy). If you need anymore info please call my on my cell at 406-241-1674 please, if you e-mail me I will get back to you as soon as I can, it could take a day or two. You will not find a nother scout like this, most of the build sheet is left behind the glove box which isn't there, I never got one for it. I have put about 1000 miles on it in the last 2 years. A Very dependable rig. I have left it sit for 3 months and it starts right up hot or cold out. This is one incredible scout!! Hate to see it go. You will not be disappointed with this mountain goat. Please feel free to call me during the day. Thanks for looking at my Scout!!!On Oct-14-10 at 21:43:38 PDT, seller added the following information: the only rust in the whole vehicle that is somewhat critical, is the drivers side floor board is rusted thru and there is a crack about 1/4 in where the floor goes up for about 4 inches, i welded a piece of angle iron on the inside of the kickpanel, the floor is still ok, needs a patch, I have driven it in the rain and the floor didn't get wet. there is some surface rust of course on some corners but nothing at all on the outside panels. Read questions for more detail, the middle or left stick for the transfer case is for the rear diff my bad on that. I have the reciepts for all of the work and parts installed in the last 6 weeks. I am sorry about not mentioning the rust on the first description. I could write excuses all day for this but I hope you understand it was not intentional. if you retract or don't bid because of that I am very sorry. Please call my with any questions or ask and I will try to answer in a timely manner. Thanks again for looking and reading my listing. I also have the spare tire and rim the tire isn't the best, I did remove the spare tire carrier off of the tailgate it rides in the back for now. no jack, or tire iron. diffs are both open. brakes all work.
