Vehicle Detail
This car was saved from a wrecking yard about ten years ago, so it has a salvage title. It had a complete body-off restoration 12,000 miles ago, even every fastener was replated and every part was refurbished or replaced. The 1600cc engine was built by GEX using all new parts including the engine case, it has hydraulic lifters so there are no valve adjustments and less noise. The carbs are Brosol 34mm and have electric chokes for easy starting. The oil system has a high performance pump, remote filter and thermostat to control the fan for the cooler. The transmission was completely rebuilt by Rich Long and wasn't one of those quickie-jobs.The tires have 12,000 miles of wear on them so they are good but not new. There are front and rear heavy duty sway bars and KYB gas shocks front and rear, the car handles extremely well in the corners and is a ball to drive fast. The interior is all good except for the headrests on the front seats, both have damage on one of the corners that can be seen in the photos. The dash has oil temp and pressure gauges, and the front seats have four point shoulder harnesses. The radio is questionable as it is an old am/fm cassette. The paint is mostly good but has a few small chips and blemishes, the chrome is in only fair condition and would mostly need to be redone if you wanted to seriously show the car though it has won several first place awards at shows. The exterior has had the headlights changed to early bug style, early Ghia turn signals were fitted, the nose emblem and base were shaved, the side trim removed and a Porsche 911 deck lid grille was fitted for more airflow to the engine. Though the colors in the photos make it look orange, the color is actually the stock Bahia red, the only orange is in the engine compartment. I get compliments everywhere I go with this car, it really does turn heads. This car has had $8,000+ in parts put into it plus many thousands more in labor, it's a fun car to drive but best around town since it is a 40 year old car that has only 1600 cc and no AC.
