Vehicle Detail
The time has come to depart with my beloved Honda V45 Sabre to make room for other toys in the garage. The Sabre's four cylinder, liquid cooled power and comfortable riding position make it great for weekend fun, commuting, or longer trips, particularly since this Sabre includes the coveted Hondaline fairing. The Sabre is truly a great "tweener" bike with plenty of power and performance, coupled with an upright, comfortable seating position and a protective windscreen. Adjustable Pro-Link rear suspension, anti-dive front forks, and low-maintenance shaft drive round out some of the other features that I've appreciated in my 13 years of owning this wonderful cycle. The Good The V45 engine's only real weakness was oil delivery to the front two cylinders, which was easily solved by adding specifically-designed aftermarket oil lines that route additional oil to these two cylinders. I added this oil mod immediately upon acquiring the cycle in 1998 and the front cylinders' cams remain in beautiful condition. I also added an oil pressure gauge as you can see in the photos, just to give added peace of mind. Last photo in my listing shows some of the stainless lines for this oil mod. Carburetors were just rebuilt by a local mechanic with over 25 years of experience. Engine runs great and purrs like a baby lion. I want the new owner of this bike to be happy and to that end I've invested in new plugs and a new battery, besides the carb rebuild. At under 20K miles, the engine has a lot of life left in it, particularly with the addition of the oil mod. Air filter elements are fairly new and should last at least a few more seasons. Cycle is practically all stock and includes the Hondaline fairing and the small luggage rack pictured in the photos. Rack is easily removed for a cleaner look, if that's what you prefer. Non-stock items include Vista Cruise throttle lock and Grab On grips. Hondaline fairing provides excellent wind protection and includes small removable lowers for additional airflow to the legs in the warmer months. Fairing has one lockable and one non-lockable storage bin. Rubber is Metzeler ME33 110/90V-18 front, Metzeler ME55A Metronic 130/90V-17 rear and have decent tread left, see photos. Adult driven for at least 17K out of its 20K miles and has always been garaged by me and the previous owner. Check out the great seat condition as testament to how we've protected this cycle from the elements. Bike looks and runs great and has been carefully maintained. Includes Haynes shop manual and the original owners manual, tool kit, and anti-theft lock. The Less Good Bike has never been laid down while moving, but it did tip over once when the kick stand gave way. This broke the ball end off the clutch lever and scratched a section of the fairing, both of which are shown in the photos. The lever could easily and cheaply be replaced, but I never bothered since I prefer the shorter lever. The scratches on the fairing can also be easily touched up, but my priority was always in keeping the bike in excellent functional condition. The scratches are not particularly noticeable and if anything just served as a reminder to me to be extra careful when parking on the side stand. In summary, the V45 Sabre is a great choice for many different riding styles and experience levels. A quote taken from a review of the 750 Sabre sums it up. "The key to the VF750S' versatility is high performance matched by touring comfort. We're talking about accelerating from 0 to 100 in 4.6 seconds. And no wonder - the VF750S cranks out 86 horsepower, making cruising on the highway effortless." Bid with confidence. Contact me with any questions or to request further info or photos. I've enjoyed over a decade with this awesome Honda product and I want the next owner to be as satisfied and have as much fun as I've had. Anyone who's ever owned a V45 or V65 will vouch for this engine's unique appeal. Winning bidder must pay $500 down via PayPal within 7 days of auction close. Local pickup, although I will work with winning bidder for delivery if needed. Bidder pays any shipping costs and/or $.50 / mile if we agree on a non-local delivery point. On Oct-04-10 at 06:50:16 PDT, seller added the following information:***NOTE*** I received a question, but since it contained the user's cell number, I didn't want to post it directly: Q: Nice one! I had one just like it back in 89. Do all of the LED readouts work ? How are the turn signal stems (the rubber mounts were weak)? Are the hydralics/reservors(clutch/Brakes) clean and fresh ? I did not know about the oil issue can you send me to a site to read about that? THANKS Greg Hi Greg, All the LEDs work perfectly and the stems are in excellent condition. The stems are fairly solid rubber bolted to metal tabs and while flexible (they're supposed to be), they're in great condition and strong. The hydraulics will be two years old and due for replacement next spring, which is a fairly simple procedure. If I were not selling the bike, I would also change the oil and filter, along with the other standard spring maintenance stuff before riding next year. Sabmag.org is THE place you want to go to read about everything Sabre (or Magna) oriented. This online community is certainly a fantastic resource filled with knowledgeable and helpful people. For instance, here is a short discussion of the oiling problem for the front two cylinders http://www.sabmag.org/phil_ross/cams.htm. The oil mod on this Sabre is the Dave Dodge oil mod, which is described in detail at sabmag.org. Thanks,
