Vehicle Detail

This Jeep was purchased new by my brother in '76, he died in '82 and our father utilized the jeep periodically until he died in 08 when the Jeep was passed along to me. Being that it had been in the family since new I felt an obligation to refresh the jeep with the idea that I would pass it on to my youngest son. My son drove it during his senior year in high school (09/10) but I did not feel it was the most appropriate vehicle to provide my son when he went out of state to college. (It would be better to provide a front wheel drive, smaller car with airbags) Hence the jeep is now for sale with approximately 7000 miles on the "refreshed" listed items. The truck is a good runner and gets around +/- 16 mpg on the highway, steering is tight, transmission shifts well, transfer case works as it should, no unusal noises in the truck, brakes are good (disc on front/drums on the rear). It is a neat old vehicle and an unusual ride which does get its fair share of attention - I did try to keep it pretty intact because of the family history assoiated with it. The cab head liner area has been insulated and covered with a light sky blue veleur material in a tuck and button pattern (look for the picture) this was done around 1977 and still looks great today. The truck had a camper shell on it between 1977-2009 and has always be stored in a garage since new. The Hickey sidewinder winch, tach, and the aftermarket wheels were added around 1980: One of the attached pictures makes the tach appear to have a cracked lense - this is not correct (apparently is a reflection) lense is clear and is not cracked or scared. Basically the truck is a J10 short bed (7ft) with the Honcho package. Outside decals were removed to paint the truck but are still available commerically for under $300. Levi interior, 360 CID 4V, 4 Speed Model T-18 transmission with granny low, Hi/Lo Model 20 Transfer case, sliding rear window, 3.54 gearing with dana 44 axles front and rear, and manual Warn hubs. Dash does not have any splits or cracks, radio works and all speakers are good, heater works, glove box liner is intact, etc. This has been a non-smoker truck since new. Replaced the rubber front brake hydraulic lines Replaced all four shocks and the steering stabilizer shock New upper and lower ball joints in the front end (both sides) Added a leaf to all four springs New rear brake drums, shoes and springs Replaced front headlights with halogen sealed beams, replaced all light bulbs in vehicle New door seals and door window wipes New front window and gasket New tires, new center caps for the rear wheels, new lug nuts for the wheels Roll on truck bed liner followed with spray on chassis gloss black poly for the rear bed New insulated carpet Changed out amp gauge to a volt meter gauge New Oil pressure and Temperature gauges R&R original seat New three point safety belts for driver and shotgun – left the center seat belt original Body work and Painted (Pearl Blue in a matt lay-on style which gives the surface a texture somewhat similar to a spray in bed liner) – Bondo was minimal, i.e. on the drivers side rear fender flare and the passenger side front fender flair and the bumper skirt under the driver's side front light - less than 4 ozs total in a 30+ year old vehicle! New Wiring harness New speedometer and throttle cables New oil pressure sender New one wire alternator New starter and relay New clutch pressure plate, disc and throw-out bearing: resurfaced the flywheel New HEI distributor upgrade New three core Radiator New water pump and all related hoses Rebuilt carburetor New fuel pump Took apart and cleaned the 9000lb Hickey Sidewinder winch New heavy duty welder leads wiring for the winch New 3 inch exhaust system with high flow muffler Remanufactured engine with a 7yr 70,000 mile warranty (S&S engines out of Washington state ) Changed out all fluids in the transmission, transfer case, front and rear differentials, and brakes. Repacked the front hubs. Installed a dirt bike rack in the bed of the truck - You can see the tie down eyes in one of the pictures - the outer tiedowns entend outward about a foot to stabilize you motorcycle tiedowns better - rack is completely removable with 4 bolts - (installation or removal is a 5 minute job) Approximately $7000 invested and between 350-400 hours into this project. FWIW I do have a few pictures of the truck (not many) during the refreshment process. I have a factory 1976 Jeep technical service manual which is included. My reserve is well below the actual dollars I have invested into this vehicle. I see that the VIN number does not pull up the "history" on the vehicle don't know what is up with that - it is the correct VIN - Montana registered in Deerlodge County 1976-2007 then registered in Idaho 2008-current. Cons. - There is a scratch on the rear quarter panel on the drivers side and a small approximately 1 inch long scratch on the tail gate - otherwise the paint is intact except for a few minor marks due to sand being thrown while driving on idaho roads during the winter. - The transfer case shift rubber is actually a hursh shifter rubber piece and is not flexible enough when cold and should be replaced with something more flexible. - The oil and fuel guages read low i.e. when the gas tank is full the guage reads 5/8-3/4 of a tank and the oil pressure guage reads between 35-40 psig when the pressure is really 60 psig. I replaced the circuit board on the back of the dash on 9/28/10 and it did not change anything. The guages have been this way since we started driving the Jeep in May of 2009 after the rebuild. Oil pressure is 40-45psig at idle and 60 psig while running at ~1600 rpm: Verified oil pressure with a mechanical oil pressure guage 9/29/10. I received an unsolicited e-mail on 9/29 from "Jeepsforever" which stated my ...."gauge problem is the ohm rating on the senders do not match the guage ohm requirement a common problem with these jeeps"??? Truck will sell as is - the fuel and oil pressure gauge work, but do not read correctly.
