Vehicle Detail

The 1979 Bonnevilles are the last year they were made by the original workforce in the Meridan factory and received many improvements over earlier models. Improved rectifier, electronic ignition, improved switches, etc. make this a very nice and reliable bike to ride. ENGINE: 750cc. Rebuilt with new main & rod bearings (std.), cylinders bored .020 with standard compression ratio, new gaskets & seals, new valves & guides. Primary has new chain and clutches (both fiber & steel plates). Transmission is 5 speed. New, correct Dunlop K81 tires, luggage rack, chain, fork seals, battery, exhaust & mufflers. Most frame fasteners have been replaced with stainless. PAINT: Factory-matched on tank & side covers (new badges) with correct double gold pinstripe. Tank badges have been painted gold to match pinstriping. (should be white. my appologies to the purists) CHROME: excellent quality, with original rims. Rear shocks are aftermarket and give a good ride. INCLUDED: Original Owner's Manual (printed in England), partial tool kit in what appears to be the original pouch, and 2 original sales sheets with photos and specifications. This is the last restored Bonneville I will be offering this season and it is an excellent bike. It was a local bike that had about 33,000 pampered miles before I completely disassembled it and replaced or restored every piece. I have ridden it about 50 miles to confirm that everything works as it should.(including the electrics). After my last ride, I re-torqued the head and reset the valves. Being a new rebuild, it will require this service again, and an oil change, after about 200 miles. You will be getting what many would consider a like-new bike. USA SALES ONLY. Please do not ask to bid if you are outside the U.S. Shipping is the responsibilty of the buyer, but I will help in any way I can to expedite the transaction. There is a clear Vermont title that has been assigned to me. Because Vermont does not issue (or re-issue) titles on vehicles over 15 years old, I will give you the title and a bank-notorized State of Vermont bill-of-sale along with a copy of the state's law. A $500., non-refundable deposit is required within 48 hours. Remainder to be paid as will be most convenient for both of us. No warranty or guarantee. No refunds or returns. I invite inspections before the end of the auction and will be happy to pick you up at the Burlington, Vermont airport. USA SALES ONLY !! Questions & rerquests for additional photos will be answered quickly. Good luck. Forgot to mention: Yes, matching engine/frame # and case #. Both brake rotors have been resurfaced.
