Vehicle Detail

1998 BMW 323iC 2.5L Inline 6, 5 Speed ManualPower of a 6 Cylinder, but gets 30MPG+ on the Highway!!! DESCRIPTION Hello Everyone, Up for sale is a 98 BMW 323iC. The 323i is the replacement of the 325i. It's the same engine size, but designed for more fuel economy, so it gets a little less power than the 325, hence the designation by BMW of 323. This one is a 5 speed manual transmission, which gives you better control of the power, and maximizes fuel economy. I have driven it several times between Atlanta, GA and Greenville, SC and usually get 32-33mpg. It was sold new in California, and spent the remainder of it's time in the Carolinas - no rust problems with this one! This car has just turned 120k miles, and is in very nice condition. Given it's age and mileage, it's spectacular. The interior is near perfect. The only flaws I can find are a small blemish on the driver seat entry bolster, and a missing plastic surround on one speaker in the door. It has the leatherette, which holds up significantly better than true leather, so you can expect it to stay in this condition if you take care of it. It's a 98, so it also has side airbags in the doors, another nice feature not found on all E36's. This car has previous accident history, it was hit in the rear and there was no frame damage. The rear bumper wasn't even damaged. It maintains a clear and clean title (South Carolina). It's not even registered with the Autocheck report, but I believe in full disclosure of everything I know. The body is in very nice shape. There is a small ding on the left fender, and the front has numerous rock chips. However, the entire car was recently detailed and the luster of the paint is very nice, so these small detractions are not easily noticed. The convertible top is extremely nice, as is the rear window. One other nice thing is that this has a manual convertible top assembly, no power motors to go bad. I've had more than 10 E36 Convertibles, and almost every power top assembly needed work. They are complicated, and are expensive to fix. So, this car will save you thousands of $$ down the road. Mechanically, this car is also spectacular. The engine starts and runs smoothly. The transmission shifts perfectly, and the clutch is in extremely good shape. I've driven this car now for a couple thousand miles and have fixed most of the items that needed attention. To nitpick the car, here is all I can add - the fuel economy needle in the instrument cluster is offset, and will not give an accurate mpg readout. However, it's only an instant readout anyway, so it's mostly useless and E36 owners don't usually use them anyway. The SRS light is on as well, I haven't had it checked, but from experience, I'd be willing to bet it's the passenger seatbelt tensioner. I think there is a DIY fix online for this, it's a very common problem. As mentioned, the top is manual, so nothing to break there. Seats are also manual, so nothing to break there (power seats have 4 motors each, and they usually need service by this age). If you haven't had an E36 with manual seats, I will let you know they are highly adjustable, just as much as power seats - just less to go wrong. I actually prefer them because they're quicker to adjust. I just serviced the ignition (common problem with spinning cylinder) as well. The wheels are also in very nice condition. They're may be a mark here of there, but no major signs of rash, scratches, or paint fading. Tires are a matched set as well...and look to be pretty new. So, I've looked at the market, and I feel I've priced this very fairly. Yes, I know there are cheaper ones out there, but you get what you pay for. Many of them need new tops, new seat upholstery, seat motors, convertible top motors, engine and/or transmission service, etc, etc, etc. Most of the ones I saw in the 4-5k range need several thousand dollars of service to be brought back to being a nice vehicle. Save yourself the money and hassle and buy one that's been kept in nice condition. Now, for anyone taking the full price buy it now - I will have the hood repainted to get rid of the rock chips. I will also take care of the SRS light (again, probably seatbelt receptacle), replace the door panel speaker surround, and replace the gauge cluster to fix the issue with the mpg estimator. That makes the full price buy it now price even more attractive. Any purchases at less than the full price buy it now will receive the car as described here, with no additional work performed. Also, a BONUS - this car has not only the original owner's manual, but has a stack of service history in the glove box as well. In some of the pictures show an aftermarket music controller in the area under the temperature controls. It has been removed and does not come with the car. The following photo shows the correct treatment of this area. The following photo shows a scarred up radio that is in the car as well. Please rest assured that the nicer radio shown in the other photos will be installed. This one has bad LED's, but I haven't gotten the radio code for the other one yet (it's LED display is very crisp, it was a unit pulled from a near new E36 several years ago), so I'm just using this one for some music while I drive it around town :) PAYMENT AND SHIPPING INFO Payment Options $500 DEPOSIT WITHIN 48 HOURS via Paypal or USPS Money Order. Balance due with cash, or cash equivalent at pickup (or before shipping). USPS Money orders are acceptable, as is bank wire. If paying by bank check, it must be a bank that serves the Atlanta, GA area (Bank of America, Wachovia, etc). This is done as there are many fraudulent Cashier's checks out there and funds must be verified before releasing either the truck or the title. Balance Due within 10 days unless other arrangements are made. Vehicle to be removed within a reasonable time. Shipping Either fly in and drive it home, or have it shipped. Shipping quotes normally range from $500-1200 for a vehicle, though this doesn't account for enclosed carrier up charges. Sales Tax You'll pay your sales tax upon registering the vehicle in your home state.
