Vehicle Detail
For sale here is my 1999 E55 AMG. If you are looking at this ad then you will need no introduction. I will remind you however the W210 E55 was the last MB vehicle that a major portion of production took place by hand at AMG in Affalterbach. It is equipped with the 5.4-liter V-8, a masterpiece of a motor that pumps out 349 horsepower and 391 pound-feet of torque. I always liked the '99 simply because it was the last year before the car received a major facelift and interior upgrades. I, for one, prefer the straight bumpers without the scoops and rounded corners. I also love the beautiful leather steering wheel, almost race like, and the simple straight-forward controls. Less electronics to go wrong too! If you are familiar with this car you probably heard or read models built from 2000 on have instrument clusters plagued by pixel issues. You most likely heard 1999 was the first year this model was built and you should "steer away" from it but nothing can be further from the truth: the W210 was produced from 1995 through 2002 and the E55 AMG was assembled from 1998 to 2002. Obviously a considerable amount of experince was amassed by '99. I bought it last year on eBay and transported it cross-country from San Diego, California to PA. My intention was to fix all the issues and make it my daily-driver. I invested a lot of money and a great deal of time into this car. Unfortunately due to the poor economy I just learned I will be laid off in a couple of months so I am forced to sell. I would rather not do this but obviously there are other priorities (I'm sure you know). ABOUT THE CAR: ADULT OWNED TITLE IN HAND Current PA state inspection. Driven an average of 9,600 miles/ year. Canadian model: the best thing about it are the day-time xenon running lights, a feature that was not available until later-on in the US. Rain sensitive wipers (great feature). Even though a Canadian model it spent most of its life in Arizona and California (imported to the US in the year 2000). Lowered by the previous owner: the shocks are Bilsteins. I am not sure about the springs since they do not have any markings on them. It rides great, it never bottoms out! 19" 2-piece Lorinser (MB tuner) LM6 staggered turbine style alloys (19 x 9.5 ET 38 rear/ 19x 8.5 ET38 front); I have to say I did not see the Lorinser logo anywhere but when I installed the new tires I did notice they were stamped as being manufactured in Germany. Maybe they are replicas but I honestly do not know. They were "made in Germany" so obviously they are good quality. I installed H&R Trak+ spacers: 15 mm/ 5x112 in rear and 10 mm/ 5x112 up-front ($300.00). These are quality spacers constructed from a proprietary aluminum/ magnesium alloy, made in Germany, featuring a hubcentric design and pushing the existing wheels to fill the wheelwells properly, giving better cornering, better aerodynamics and even better looks. New longer bolts were mounted to address any safety issues with the spacers(12mm x1.5; 40mm front and 12mm x1.5; 45mm rear). Also, no rubbing whatsoever!! New tires were installed 4,000 miles ago and they are Sumitomo HTR Z III's. These are some of the best tires "out there" but don't take my word for it... "google it". The fronts are 245/35ZR19's ($150.00 each) and the rears 275/30ZR19's ($200.00 a piece). Not even the new W211 E55 AMG is equipped with such wide rear tires! These are the factory recommended size; only the side wall is shorter to make up for the upgrade in the wheel size, from 18" (factory) to 19". New front-right inner & outer tie rods were installed and a wheel allignment was done ($600.00). As you can see from the picures there is a dent on the right front wheel arch where the previous owner hit something. This job took care of that but I never got the chance to paint it since I wanted to make sure the mechanics were addressed first. New front AMG rotors! Ask anyone, this is a very expensive job (I paid $950.00). New air filters (2). New oil change using the AMG recommended synthetic Mobil1 0W40 motor oil and original MB oil filter. New lower rubber windshield trims/ the old ones were cracked ($43.00). New OEM Bosch windshield wiper blade ($22.00). New oil filler cap (new MB design). New light bulbs installed in the dash and the climate control unit (all lights working). New license plate bulbs. New hood star ornament. New key fob design (see pic); how cool is that!? (2 remote batteries recently installed). All manuals included (car, radio & telephone). There are no warning lights on (check engine, BAS, ABS etc.) The car runs as it should. The engine does not consume any oil! Not even a drop! The transmission shifts perfect. I am always amazed how smooth it is. A/ C works well. There are 2 rust spots above the upper side of the front windshield which will need to be addressed (like I said, this was the last thing on my list). The front bumper had some work done to it but it served me fine. The car is a little dirty in the pictures (it rained the previous day while driving it to work). As expected there are a few imperfections: remeber, it's 11 years old. The interior is in great condition as you can see but there are a couple of small cracks in the dash. The stereo (Bose) and the CD changer work flawlessly. The rear shade works perfect (see pic). The car phone, cup holders, windows, power seats, heated seats, mirrors, memory buttons, power tilt and telescoping steering wheel, headlight cleaners, power door locks, remote trunk release and alarm work as they should. There is a light tint on the windows which makes the car look awsome and is 100% legal! I will also include a brand new windshield washer reservoir since the original one is yellowish (see pics) and does not do the engine bay any justice ($40.00). I am selling it cheap so please do not email me to ask what the reserve is. If you have 0 feedback do not bid without contacting me first or I will cancel your bid. This is a good opportunity to purchase one of the best cars ever built. Good luck!
