Vehicle Detail

Up for auction is my 1970 Mercedes 280 SE Two Door Hardtop. The body is in "like new" condition. The body was stripped down to the bare metal and repainted. All rubber was replaced. The chrome parts were removed and replaced where needed. The car was painted by a Premier Body Shop, who specializes in high end cars such as Bentley's, Rolls-Royce, MB, etc... The headliner is in great shape. The interior is in great shape. The leather seats are in great shape except for the driver seat. The wood trim around windshield needs to be restored. All lights, front and back are in like new condition. All chrome is like new. Wheels are original with original wheel covers. The tires are Pirelli's with 80% tread life. The car has been stored in a dry environment under a breathable custom cover. Odometer shows 47000 miles, but has 147000 miles. The Bad. The car overheated due to a leaking radiator hose. The car was parked in the garage at the time I was ill. The car was stored until I was able to check the defect. When the car was started, water was coming out of the tailpipe. In my mechanics opinion, either the head gasket lifted off or the electrolysis caused the cylinders to leak. At this time, the engine does not turn over. I have a parts car with a cylinder head to repair the defective one. The rear end makes a clonking sound. The rear axel of the parts car can be installed to fix that. I am including the parts car in the auction. The parts car is a 1969 280SE four door sedan. Doors, hood, fenders and all body parts are usable for body repair. Interior of the parts car is poor. We have discovered there are two gouges in the floor pan of the rear passenger footwells, At the time I taped them shut with duct tape and never had a drop of water in the car There is a dent in the right rear fender and the left front window fell off the track. Since the car was parked in the garage, mice have deposited dogfood in certain crevices under the hood. I had to drill several holes in the inn fenders to extract the dogfood. (see Pictures). In the early 80's we hit a deer. The car was repaired by the same body shop as mentioned above. Hood fender and lightes were replaced. There is no evidence of a collision.
