Vehicle Detail
As everyone knows, the Dodge Dar GT Convertible is a rare car.Even more so when they are in the condition that this one is in. I bought this car several years ago from the son-in-law of the man who had the restoration work done. This car drives perfect, with no shimmies, shakes or road wander. It stops straight as an arrow with it's manual brakes. The transmission is a automatic, which works and shifts smooth as it should. The paint is very good, although not show quality by any means. As you can see in the pictures it is a knock out. There are some minor chips in the paint here and there that comes from being used and enjoyed. The chips are no larger than a match head. At some point in it's life the car has been in a minor accident, with some lite damage to the right front fender. The fender has been expertly repaired and shows no signs of the repair on the outside, but on the inside of the engine bay, you can see where the inner fender has been fixed. I have tried to show this in the pictures. Also, the absence of the front stainless steel wheel well trim tells me that it has been in a minor accident. I have tried to find these on line, but haven't had any luck in doing so. The windshield also has a star chip in it. I had it professionally repaired. The engine fires right up, even after extended periods of not being driven. I do not drive it in the late fall and winter. In the spring I put the top down and it stays down until fall. It has always been garaged and covered while in my ownership. Everything works in the car, all gauges, lights, turn signals and horn. The heater core developed a leak and I by-passed it in the engine bay. I have a new heater core that comes with the car. Now I will tell explain why I have not replaced the old leaking core. The previous owner's father-in-law had a Secret Audio System installed, along with a 10 CD Changer, Automatic Door Locks and Security Alarm. The Secret Audio System is located behing the glove box with the face of the unit mounted on the back of the glove box (as shown in the pictures) All of this would have to be removed, along with the wiring to get to the heater core, which is mounted on the firewall. You can see why I elected not to replace the heater core. The dash pad has come loose on the passenger side corner, near the windshield. The corner is turned up slightly. I have had this looked at by my upholstery shop and I was told that the only way to fix it was to remove the dash pad, repair it,then put it back on. Because of the same issues regarding the heater core, I elected not to do so. I have shown the turned up corner in the pictures. The dash pad has no cracks or splits. The bumpers are original and do not have any dings in them. The grill has a few dings from use. The tail light chrome shows some lite pitting from age. Below is a list of the work done by the previous owner's father-in-law approximately ten years ago. . Engine and Transmission overhaul approx. 11,000 miles ago . New Top Installed . Secret Audio System with 10 CD Changer and hand held remote control . Power door locks with Car Alarm and FOB Below is a list of the work that I have had done. . Complete Interior by Legenddary Interiors (installation done by a professional installer) New Boot for Top (power top works good) . Stainless Steel Exhaust Tips . Water Pump Replaced . New Trunk Mat . Original Steering Wheel Restored . Rally Wheel with Beauty Rings . Rally Wheels sandblasted and powder coated (silver) . Firestone Firehawk Tires with 85/90% tread remaining I have tried to describe the car as best as I can, but I'm sure there will be questions that you may have. PLEASE ASK !
