Vehicle Detail
I'm selling my X5 because the kids are grown and I just do not need this much room anymore. I currently have an M5 and 325ic which I'm keeping. This has been a pleasure to own. With the V8 it's very fast & handles more like a car. Very few SUVs today can beat it. No accidents, dents, rust, smokers, pets or leaks. I'm a long term BMW CCA member and have taken extremely good care of this X5 with the majority of work being done by a BMW only repair shop or myself. I purchased it Feb 06 with 77,236 mi from the orginal owner; also a club member. This has never been a "southern" car so there is no risk of past flood damage. If you are in the market for a pre 06 X5 there are some common (expensive) issues that should have been fixed or you will have some very empty pockets when they fail. First is the ABS conroller. Bosch, in their effort to reduce the lead in their electrical solder connections in the late 90s and early 00s, made units with a high failure rate. Check out how many are for sale on Ebay. Unless you purchase one made after 2006 it probably has the crapy solder that eventually fails. The other issues are the tailights, driver's side window regulator, outer front CV boots & the little universal steering wheel shaft knuckle, they too all fail. I've also changed the ABS pump and mass airflow sensor, brake pads 2x front 1x rear and all 4 discs. Go to any Bimmer forum and you can find many articles on these topics. I've spent over $6k fixing these issues so you won't have to. The water pump, coolant & sway bar links were just changed a week ago. The "lifetime" tranny fluid was changed at 100k. There are no oil, coolant, brake or other fluid leaks. Repair receipts are available upon request. This X5 has Navigation, Zenon lights, disc changer in the trunk and factory tow package. I've never actually towed anything with it, the orginal owner ordered it this way just to have the reciever in the back to protect the rear bumber from getting damaged. This X5 would rate a 9.9 out of 10 mechanically. Now for the bad part, some @#$% decided to key the passenger door and hood. The scratches might be able to be removed by a professional detailer. The driver's side rear bumper corner looks as if someone held a buffer a little too long in one spot. It was there when I bought it and only bothers me when I detail the car and can't get it just right. These imperfections might be very minor to someone else and do not show in the photos. From 10 ft even I can't see these. The picture of the rear cargo area shows the CD changer and navigation system exposed; the cover door is included. There is a small white area on the cargo floor where bleach spilled. This can be seen in the picture. There is a stone chip the size of a nickel in the windshield. This passed inspection. The information display on the dash, the lowest part which displays the odometer, has some dots which are dimmer than others. Otherwise, the seats are perfect, the stereo sounds great, the mats are only 2 years old & the navigation discs have been upgraded since the original ones in 2001. This auction includes a set of Weathertech winter mats. The matching Thule roof carier with BMW Roundels is not. It will be sold seperately. The winner will have the first shot at purchasing it. You can purchase an X5 with lower milage but unless the above mentioned items have been changed you better set aside some $ for the repairs that are sure to come. My reserve is less than any 4.4 X5 has sold for on Ebay. Good luck to the winner! Vehicle is also for sale locally so I'm reserving the right to end the auction early. Vehicle is located 40 mi north of NYC near West Point. I'm willing to deliver up to 75 mi at no cost. A non refundable $500 deposit is due within 24 hrs of end of auction. Total auction price is payable by certified check only. On Sep-02-10 at 16:55:29 PDT, seller added the following information: Trailer hitch shown in photos will not be included. Another hitch will be included if winner wants one. The milage stated was the exact milage when auction started. This vehicle is driven everyday up to 50 miles, milage at end of auction will be slightly higher, no more than 250 additional miles will be added.
