For Sale: 1993 Nissan Sentra SE-R (for restoration or parts!) Only 119,000 miles. Please read the whole ad before bidding! This car might be somewhat drivable (like far enough to get on a trailer) but is in ROUGH condition, and probably beyond restoration for street use. The car suffered engine damage, and has been sitting outside for over 6 years. I am the 2nd owner, and have a clear NC title for it. It has spent its life in Virginia and North Carolina. The body was in good rust-free condition when parked. Never been in the rust belt from what I can tell. But I have not gotten under it for a thorough inspection since it was parked. The engine developed a sudden leak in the front main crank seal, and lost oil. It has what sounds like a rod knock. This is a common problem on the SR20 engine, esp in the #3 cylinder. It can often be repaired in-car by dropping the oil pan and replacing rod bearings. The 5-speed transmission was in good working order, with none of the "5th gear pop out" problems common to many. It is dark grey, with the standard grey SE-R interior, AC, sunroof, stock wheels, no ABS. There is a Pioneer CD-Player head unit in the dash; don't know if still works or not. Aftermarket amps have been removed. Door and one interior side panels are cut for aftermarket speakers. Here is the really bad part! Mice and water have gotten into the car over the years and damaged the interior extensively. It reeks of mouse urine and mold. There is surface mildew on much of the interior. I think the mice got in through the AC condensation drain on the firewall, and have filled the air box with their filth. I tore out the carpet and trunk lining a few years ago to try to slow or halt the damage, but it's still pretty foul. The driver & passenger seats were pulled and stored indoors, and are probably usable with a thorough cleaning. Water is leaking in, possibly through the sunroof; I drilled a small hole in the floor to facilitate drainage ;) The car was repainted by the first owner. The paint has some flaking but is actually in surprisingly good shape for an old car. I pressure washed it last year and it cleaned up kinda well, but since then it's gotten another layer of tree gack dropped on it. There is some staining in the paint from tree debris that may or may not scrub off. The P.O. claims the body is original, but I suspect the hood or possibly the whole front clip has been replaced. Last CarFax I saw was clean, but the P.O. claimed "someone backed into it in a parking lot, and the grille had to be replaced." I'm trying to offer full disclosure here. The P.O. also made some silly mods to the interior, like painting the gauges blue. Not my style at all, but largely irrelevant in its current condition. If you want all the micro-details on mods, please contact me. This would be a good parts car, or possible restoration into a race car. Unless you're a really hard core SE-R fan willing to take on a major project, this should not be considered something that can be polished back into daily commuter service! I also have about 6 boxes of interior, body, and chassis components from a parted out 1992 SE-R that the buyer is welcome to. In the last couple years I've listed this on some Nissan forums and communicated with potential buyers, but did not follow through on it. Sorry if that was you! This time it's gotta go! (my divorce settlement says so.) I am in western North Carolina, slightly south of Asheville. Punch zip 28760 into your favorite mapper, and you'll be within a mile or less. I'd prefer not to deal with 3rd party car transporters. Buyer will need to come prepared to trailer the car off. Please do NOT think you can show up with tools and wrench on it in my driveway for an hour or two and drive off! It's too far gone for that. Thanks for Looking!
