Vehicle Detail
This car absolutelyoozes sex appeal with it's "old school" style with dropped front end, chopped windshield and sporting flamethowers. The car has been garaged it's entire life and has only registered 2610 miles in 6 years. T-Bird tranny, Mustang rear end and Smitty exhaust gives great performance and an unmistakable sound. Pinstriping was done by the well-known and respected Robert Madden. Steel radiator shell, hood and side lovers, body is glass. This car belonged to our Dad, the "Po-Boy Hisself", owner of Po-Boy Speed Shops across North and South Carolina and Performance Distributors: East Coast distributor for Mr. Gasket, Thrush, Edelbrock, Holley, Weiand intakes, Sig Erson Cams, Crane Cams, Lakewood, Moroso, Harwood, ACCEL Ignition, Mallory Ignition, Cyclone and Hedman Headers, ET Wheels, Centerline Wheels, Clifford Engineering and many others. Although he had speed in his veins, he had long since given up racing when he purchased this car in 2004 at the ripe old age of 78. The Po-Boy went to that big dragstrip in the sky this past January, so check out the build sheet below and bid with confidence - this is one car you will enjoy for a lifetime. July 10, 2004 1932 Ford Roadster Build Sheet A) GENERAL INFORMATION Serial number: 18-1577077 This is stamped (4 plcs) on frame. In center of rear cross member facing rear of car, Driver side frame rail underside near 4 bar attach mount, Driver side frame rail topside near steering gear box, Passenger side frame rail side facing motor under motor mount. Body, fenders, running boards and perimeter frame and chrome/stainless suspension pieces are from Flatlanders Street Rods in Norfolk VA. B) ENGINE / TRANSMISSON Engine is a 1966 Ford Fairlane 289 that was removed from a 50,000-mile car in 1977. Block was hot tanked, bored .030 over and crankshaft was turned .010. Cam and lifter kit is Crower very mild hi torque. Offenhauser dual plane aluminum 4-barrel intake manifold. Holley 4160 600cfm carburetor. Headers are Ceramic coated from Southern Rods. Distributor is an Accel dual point with Accel high voltage coil. Chrome Alternator is 70 AMP for Ford. Transmission is 1983 Ford Thunderbird AOD and I believe it was a about a 60,000-mile transmission. Front pump and rear seals were replaced but other than that no changes were done to the transmission. Rear end is 1966 Mustang 8.00” with 3:25 gears and is mounted under car with chrome triangulated 4 Bar and coil over shock/spring using 220 lb rated springs. Rear brake backing plates, brake assemblies, shoes, etc. and drums are 1966 Mustang 8 cylinder that had new wheel cylinders, shoes, etc. replaced. C) BODY / EXTERIOR Paint color is Dupont no. 99K Black Chromabase / Chromaclear base/clear coat. Grille shell and engine cowling is steel. Gas tank is a 12-gallon unit from Tanks. Top frame is polished Stainless Steel from Lebarron Bonney and the Oak bows are also from Lebarron Bonney. The windshield and top frame have a 2” chop. Rear window will zip out totally and the top folds down. Hood is hinged on passenger side and releases from driver side and to open, there is a small rod that runs parallel to the square support tube that runs from the firewall to radiator shell behind square tube on driver side. Pull this rod towards the firewall and hood will release. When latching hood back down, pull this rod again towards the firewall and gently pull the hood edge towards the firewall while pulling hood down at same time. When hood is where it belongs, release the latch rod. D) ELECTRICAL Wiring harness is AMERICAN AUTOWIRE. Documentation is included. Gauges are Stewart Warner Electronic Wings. Documentation is included. If you change rear wheel/tire size or rear end gearing, you will have to recalibrate the speedometer. Right now it seems to be real accurate. There are dipswitches to change in back of speedometer to accommodate different gear/wheel combinations. Headlights and tail lights are 1932 Ford reproduction units, with Halogen bulbs in head lights, from Speedway Motors in Nebraska. E) CHASSIS Front disk brake kit is from Speedway Motors in Nebraska. The calipers are standard GM from the early 80’s. Rotors I believe are Plymouth Volare that uses the same Ford 4 ½” bolt pattern. The wheels must have a 2 ¾” center hole to fit onto these hubs. Steering gearbox is rebuilt 1968 Ford Mustang. Tilt steering column is vintage, I believe was 1982. To operate tilt, push forward on the turn signal lever. Brake Master Cylinder is 1968 Mustang double reservoir for Disk/Drum brakes. Access for checking fluid level is available by taking up the carpet. I have found it easier to jack up the car and check from underneath using a light and mirror. Front wheels are I believe for an early 70’s maverick and are 14”. Tires are 205RX14 Broadway Classic. Rear wheels are about 1980 vintage Crown Victoria and are 15”. Tires are 235RX15 Broadway Classic. SPECIAL NOTATIONS. The main wire cable (0 gauge) from the battery in the trunk to the starter solenoid located under car near bottom of firewall near starter on main frame side has a Master Power Shutoff solenoid which is located on inside passenger frame side rail back near the gas tank to disconnect all power throughout the whole car. This disconnect solenoid is operated by a toggle switch that is located under the seat on the driver side seat front support tube. When switch lever is down, all power is shut off and when the switch lever is up, you are ready to go. There is also another toggle switch located just left of the radio under the dash that is a manual override for fan in the event that the automatic adjustable temperature control, which is located under the hood near the radiator malfunctions. The main electrical fuse box, which uses modern blade type fuses, is located up under the dash. Lots of space for additional circuits if needed. Electric trunk release switch is a momentary push forward bat handle switch that is located at the steering column support plate, under the dash and just left of the column support plate. Make sure the handle is pulled back to its normal position, as occasionally it wants to stick in the release position. There is also a manual trunk latch release cable located up next to the frame on driver side just in front of the frame horn cover. On Aug-21-10 at 16:32:44 PDT, seller added the following information: file:///C:/Users/Rod/Pictures/'32%20Ford/100_2332.JPG, file:///C:/Users/Rod/Pictures/'32%20Ford/100_2324.JPG, file:///C:/Users/Rod/Pictures/'32%20Ford/100_2322.JPG, file:///C:/Users/Rod/Pictures/'32%20Ford/100_2320.JPG, file:///C:/Users/Rod/Pictures/'32%20Ford/100_2319.JPG, file:///C:/Users/Rod/Pictures/'32%20Ford/100_2318.JPG, file:///C:/Users/Rod/Pictures/'32%20Ford/100_2317.JPG, file:///C:/Users/Rod/Pictures/'32%20Ford/100_2242.JPGOn Aug-21-10 at 16:43:57 PDT, seller added the following information: , , , , , , , On Aug-21-10 at 16:50:53 PDT, seller added the following information: , , , , , , , On Aug-21-10 at 16:56:55 PDT, seller added the following information: , , , , , , , On Aug-22-10 at 06:46:28 PDT, seller added the following information: http://cid-f9b8ba11da3b3f5d.skydrive.live.com/redir.aspx?page=play&resid=F9B8BA11DA3B3F5D!103&Bpub=SDX.Photos&Bsrc=GetSharingLink
