Vehicle Detail
Up for sale is a 1928 FORD 2DR. SEDAN built to capture the hot rod look of the 1950's. It has a very nice hand built frame. Stepped in the back to achive the right ride height. Sucide frontend with ecliptical spring front suspention. Front suspention works great nice tight steering, and nice straight handling. The motor and running gear were robbed from a 1947 mercury. The motor is dressed up with two rebuilt strongberg 97's, polished acorn head nuts, unique scoop style air cleaners, and heat treated side pipes. The block is painted blue to match the blue 1935 ford wire wheels. The motor runs great, starts up with the first push of the button and runs cool all day long. The radiator is super efficiant, has a nice fan shroud, and doesn't let the little motor get hot. The car has never over heated even on 100 degree days. Transmission is also a 1947 mercury, nice and tight, shifts great with the shifter on the floor Rearend is the banjo type with mono leaf rear spring. juice brakes all four corners The steering column is out of the 1947 mercury as well. I still has the key on the column with the neat little on/off switch. Nice clean pedal assembly, clutch depresses easily, and the spoon gas pedal mashes right to the floor. Original model A gauge cluster with two stewart warner gauges [ oil and water temp] gas gauge is still the floating type because the gas tank is still in the cowl. The old time speedo still works well. All electrical components are 100% operable lights, highbeams, turn signals, brake lights, electric wiper, horn. The wiring is all new and very clean and tighty. Wood floor boards just the way Henry ford used to build them. The body has just the right patina for the look of the car. It does has some rust at the bottom of the doors and the inner fenders [ as you can see in the photos]. I think the car looks great just the way it is and would not change a thing. But the metal repair is a very simple fix if someone so desires. All the glass in in the car except the door glass. The roof insert has been filled and a cool white vinyle top installed. As you can tell but the pictures this car has the look. It was built very well and well thought out. But this is not a high end street rod It has it squeaks and rattles, handles like a old hot rod, and uncaped is to loud for it own good. So if your looking for a bare bones hot rod this might be the car for you.If you like the escalade feel this car is not for you. Car has a clear 1928 ford title. buyer is resposible for shipping On Aug-07-10 at 18:17:10 PDT, seller added the following information: feel free to call 503-206-1897 with any questions
