Vehicle Detail

This auction is for a 1986 VW Quantum AWD. It is in need of some TLC. It's not very pretty, but it does run! I actually drive it almost daily. I bought it almost 2 yrs ago as our oldest child was getting ready to drive, and I ended up being the main driver for this vehical as it is a 5-speed and she had no interest in learning how to drive it. Anyway like I said it runs and she likes to go! I have had no major problems with it. When I bought it I had to have new tail light put in, and my husband put in a different radio. The guy we bought it from said that they didn't make very many of these Quantums. It has an Audi engine it, and I thought he said it was a 5-cyl, but I wouldn't stake my life on it. I had never heard of a Quantum when I bought it, but I had a VW Dasher in the early 80's that I really liked, and it reminded me of that. Anyway like I said I have been driving it for almost 2 yrs. And haven't had to put anything into it other than an oil change, and occasional anti freeze top off. The vent blows, but the heater doesn't work the best. It always started for me here in chilly Wisconsin in January/February without having to plug it in. It has power windows, but my husband did disconnect the power to the front windows as they weren't working right. The back windows work fine. The back door on the driver's side doesn't open from the outside. When I was having the rear tail light replaced the backside of the interior (in the hatch area) got broken up. (See picture) When it pours rain (hard) some how water gets in the passenger side floor. There must be some rusted through spots on the passenger side. Nothing else is ever wet. No indication of leaking windows or doors. No wet seats or ceiling. The back hatch door needs to be held open with a metal pole. It has rust here and there and the plastic bumpers are loose in spots (like over the rear wheel well, driver's side). Just this last week it has started dripping/leaking antifreeze. We don't want to stick and money into it. I drove it today and I'll keep driving it until it sells. It's been a great little runner! Please email me with any questions as it is being sold as is. It's a good beater, like I said not very pretty, but it gets me from point A to point B and back. I think this would also be a good car to get parts off of, if you were looking for any Quantum parts. I did my best with the pictures. You'll have to drive to Durand, Wisconsin to pick it up. I am waiting on a replacement title. Could not find my original. Hopefully I will have it by the end of auction. Thanks for looking.
