1988 Suzuki Samurai Tintop I bought this Sammy two years ago in Pennsylvania as a good runner with some rust issues mostly around the rear wheel wells and on the floor up front and some in back… rust in the usual places. I spent a good bit of time cleaning up the rust and treating it with PR15, which seems to have done a good job of arresting further rust. I added metal where it needed it pop riveting it into place and intended to follow up with fiberglass. Once it kept out the weather and was pretty well sealed up inside I just drove it… interstate highways and into Baltimore occasionally. It was a good runner with a great running gear. It does not smoke and does not leak oil. No shimmy in the front end, tires are good. Turn signals and lights, wipers, heater all work. It still has the original owners manual in the glove box along with the new car warranty manual and owners manual for the pioneer radio/cassette player, still has the speakers in back, but wires need to be checked. I don’t listen to the radio anyway. The interior is nice, upholstery quite good for its age and it has the original back seat which folds as it should. I needed to tow it back to Minnesota in the spring a year ago so rigged up a tow bar which worked very well and it towed so nicely you wouldn’t know it was even back there. This would be an economical toad for an RV. As for what’s wrong with it… I stopped driving it at the end of last summer when either the brake line right front sprung a leak at the wheel, or the brake in the wheel went bad. One minute I had brakes and the next I didn’t, so it needs to have the brakes looked at and possibly while you’re at it replace the brake lines, always a good idea on an older vehicle like this. The tail pipe came off and I bought a section of stainless steel flexible muffler pipe to replace it, but never did after the brake issue. Summer was at an end and I would be leaving soon anyway. I figured I would use it again this summer, but in the meantime got a newer SUV and no longer need the Sammy. Locks all work, but there is no key for the back door, so it either needs to have a key made for it or have the lock replaced. I didn’t need to lock it so never worried about it. It latches fine. There is a dent shown in the picture of the rear around the area of the lock. The original jack is there and original tool kit is under the seat. The battery is good, about two years old and I replaced the alternator last year. The fender wheel flares are included, but are not attached. Odometer reads at 67377.6 miles. Clutch is good. Rear bumper needs beefier attachments. I do have a title. This is a no reserve auction with bidding starting at $600.00 and a buy it now price of $1,000.00.
