Vehicle Detail
Up for auction is a 1979 Ferrari 308 GTS that I have owned for 13 years. Here is the story on this car. According to the story I was told when I bought it, sometime in its past, this car was stolen and driven into a lake. The title says "Flood" on it. I bought this car in September of 1979 from a gentleman in Cincinnati, Ohio, who had restored it. At least most of it. At the time I bought it, neither the odometer or tachometer was working, and I have never had either fixed the entire time I have owned it. I can tell you that in the 13 years I have owned the car, I have put less than 5000 miles on it. I have only driven the car on a Sunday when the weather was perfect. I don’t like driving the car with the top on, so except for pictures, the top is never on. I don’t want this car sitting in the sun or weather at work, so it has only been driven a few Sundays each summer. Now here is the good news. I just got this car back from a major service at a Ferrari shop. I have a receipt for $6,396.00 that I just spent for: Timing, belts, tensioners, valve adjustment, tuning, carb adjustment, accessory belts, repaired and replace fuel lines, fan motor blades and brake calipers. The car is running great. The paint, body and interior are all very good. The only other problem in addition to the odometer and tachometer is the side windows. The electric motors work, but the windows are off their tracks so they do not raise.Since I only drive it with the top down in nice weather, I have never bothered to have this fixed either. This is a no reserve auction and my starting price is way low because I want this car to sell. I’ve got too many cars and no free time, so I hate to let this car sit after spending all this money. This car is ready to have some fun at a very cheap price. Please email me with any questions.
