Real 1931 Model A ROADSTER HOT ROD SURF ‘California Special’ 1950’s style Hot Rod FORD! This awesome traditional styled hot rod is loaded with a ton of neat vintage features and style. We call this real roadster ‘The California Special.’ This traditional beauty features a real 1931 factory Henry Ford Model A Roadster body with a customized Hot Rod Surf Model A frame powered by a freshly rebuilt small block 327 Chevy engine. The engine has been balanced with forged pistons and new valves, seats, springs, and rockers. The intake is pumping a traditional tri-power carburetor set up with original Strombergs (running off the center one). The car also has a balanced drive shaft with a Ford 9 inch rear end and automatic TH350 transmission. The style is all about the golden era of hot rods from the mid to late 1950’s…. when hot rods were built for running, looking raw, going fast, and cruising around the streets or even out racing on the lake beds. This hot rod has been driving around the beach area of San Diego for the past couple of years and is a great runner. The kinks of a fresh build have been worked out and everything works including the new Stewart Warner Speedometer that recently replaced a race Tachometer. The paint and chrome have chips, pits, scratches, wear, and nicks from use. This is a hot rod for driving and enjoying and would make a great driver for any car collector or for someone who wants to cruise around in style and doesn’t want to stress out about parking on the street or taking it to rowdy parties. This hot rod also features a custom dash, louvered hood, reversed original 1931 dimpled firewall, and custom louvered deck lid with pinstriping by Hot Rod Surf’s MWM as featured in the HOT ROD SURF Pinstriping Techniques Volume 2 DVD movie. There is a real SCTA speed tag riveted to the dash that comes with the hot rod and is originally from MWM’s 2007 motorcycle race season. This has become part of the car and will be left on the dash.
