Vehicle Detail
VEHICLE DESCRIPTION This beautiful truck was frame-off restored in 2005, painted GM Victory Red, with only a little over 4,500 miles on it since the restoration was completed. With a 350 V8 engine, TH350 automatic transmission, Camaro suspension with disc brakes, power sterring, and COLD air conditioning by Vintage Air, it's a pleasure to drive! This truck gets all sorts of attention everywhere it goes. It is a real head turner. ENGINE The engine in this truck is a rebuilt 350 from a 1978 Camaro. I don't know if it is a 2-bolt or a 4-bolt main but it runs strong. There is a lot of chrome under the hood, including the Edelbrock 4bbl. carburetor, alternator, A/C compressor, valve covers, air cleaner housing, and headers. When needing to access the engine compartment, there are some nice folding hood supports that fold out and hold up the hood sides, but allowing you to rest the hood sides on them. This makes it extremely nice to work on anything under the hood, without having to worry about damaging the hood or the paint. When finished, just lift the hood sides off of the supports, fold the supports away, and latch the hood sides down. COOLING SYSTEM There is an Afeco super aluminum radiator. The original radiator will also be included in the sale as well. TRANSMISSION The TH350 automatic transmission is from the same 1978 Camaro that the engine came from. There is also a transmission cooler installed in front of the radiator. REAR DIFFERENTIAL The 12-bolt rear differential is from a 1978 Camaro. I'm not aware of what the gear ratio is. STEERING AND SUSPENSION The factory steering column has been replaced with a Camaro tilt column and a new leather banjo style steering wheel and built-in turn signals. The suspension came from the same 1978 Camaro that the engine and transmission came from. This includes the power steering and front disc brakes which make driving asnd stopping this beauty a dream. EXTERIOR/BODY The body is straight, and all steel, with the exception of the rear fender on the drivers side, which is fiberglass. Even the running boards are steel and include the Chevrolet step panels, which most of the remaining '37 Chevy pickups no longer have. The paint is very shiny, and the body is in very good condition, but there is a very minor crack in some body filler in the front fender on the passenger side, from the stress of the fender mounting bracket on the other side. OAK BED/ TAILGATE The solid oak bed floor is simply stunning. The wood is shiny and the stainless strips between each plank are as well. The tailgate chains are chrome and are wrapped in chain guards to prevent any paint damage. INTERIOR The interior is done quite nicely in a camel colored faux leather, including the seat, door panels, and headliner. The stitching in the seats and door panels is very attractive. New carpeting and floor mats were recently installed. There are two very small pin holes on drivers side of seat, which occured during stransport when I purchased the truck, due to a box containing the original radiator placed in the cab, but they're small enough t that I've never had this repaired. MISCELLANEOUS The original gas tank that was under the seat was removed in favor of a 15 gallon tank mounted in the front of the bed toward the back of the cab. The vacuum operated wper was replaced with an electric wiper motor, which works great! Since GM is still using Vicory Red on it's vehicles, touch-up paint is easy to come by, but a bottle of it is included with the purchase. Included in the purchase is an original 1937 Chavy truck service manual, the original owner manual, and 1937 sales brochure. The sides of the ribs in the grille are painted to match the body. This makes it so that when viewing the ront of the truck from a side angle, the grille looks entirely red, but when viewing it from the front, it looks completely chrome... a neat touch.
