Vehicle Detail
This has been a fun project car for me, but it's time to move on. The specifics: Engine is original, all seals and gaskets have been replaced over the past few years- no oil leaks at all. New timing belt, water pump, etc about 25,000 miles ago. Turbo is a Mitsubishi TD04H-15G (not a cheap Chinese knockoff), originally part of a Greddy turbo kit. Apart from the turbo and the manifold, all the pieces have since been replaced or upgraded. It's now fitted with a TurboXS boost controller set to ~14 PSI, a front-mounted intercooler, full 2.5" exhaust (downpipe, Magnaflow cat, catback, and Magnaflow muffler), custom heatshield, and an RS-type BOV. Engine management is a Megasquirt driving 465cc injectors and coil-on-plug ignition, equipped with an Innovate LC-1 wideband O2 sensor and a custom 36-1 VR crankwheel trigger. A DevilsOwn progressive water-injection system is fitted for a little added protection, although I don't really have it tuned right at the ragged edge. Drivetrain-wise, I've installed a Torsen limited slip differential fitted with a 4.1 R&P, swapped from a '95 model. Suspension is an adjustable-height coilover system, sprung at 400 lbs/in front, 250 lbs/in rear. Comfortable, yet responsive. Body and top are both in pretty good shape as you can see. The top I had replaced a few years ago with a Robbins glass-window version. No rips or tears at all, just a bit of the usual delamination around the edges of the window- nothing you can't have fixed. The car itself is still wearing original paint- no wrecks, no rust, and it shines up decently with a coat of wax every now and then. Wheels & Tires: you get to choose here, as I’ve got three different sets to pick from. There’s a set of 17x7.5 Ronal wheels with full-tread Kumho Ecsta tires for those of you into the low-profile look, a set of 15x7 Enkei wheels wearing Bridgestone RE-01R tires that are just about out of tread, and I recently got a set of the super lightweight semi-hollow-spoke 14x6 wheels that were factory optional from ’94-’97, they’ve got all-season tires on them right now (full tread) but put on a set of Direzza Z1s and these be quite good. I mounted all three sets onto the car in various pictures, so you can get an idea of what they look like. Regarding emissions legality: This car has obviously been modified beyond the original scope of the Greddy turbo package. For California residents, this of course means that the Greddy CARB EO sticker which is still on the firewall is technically void. Lo, though it served me well all these many years. Whether or not your friendly local smog tech will take note any of this is none of my business. The vehicle does have a catalytic converter, and it passed a tailpipe test a few years back, when I was running a different ECU (Greddy eManage ultimate) but the same injectors, cat, and whatnot. That being said, I make no warrantees of any kind regarding emissions compliance where you live. Shipping is up to the buyer. You can come pick it up here in Carlsbad, CA, or you can have it transported by a motor carrier. I recently had a Subaru Forester shipped to me from Missouri and it only cost $650 from 1-2go2.com, though there's plenty of other providers out there. Need help? Just ask. I have been an active eBay user since 1999, and have never received a negative or neutral feedback. Don't believe me? Check it out for yourself. My reputation on this site is older than some of the people using it. Also, note that I have removed the reserve price, at the request of a couple of different people who said they found it obnoxious. Instead, I simply reserve the right to either accept or reject whatever the winning bid happens to be at the close of the auction. Sorry, but you're not going to get the car for $900. I hope that everyone finds this arrangement to be more palatable. And now, the gratuitous picture show, first with the 15" wheels: A few shots with the lightweight 14" Mazda wheels: And a few with the 17" wheels: The interior is fairly stock and clean. That radio plays MP3s, that's really about the only fancy thing going on here. The seats aren't quite as faded as my crappy old camera makes them look, and of course they are free of rips, tears, etc., even on the vinyl backs. The trusty ole' CARB EO sticker: The following is an UNCORRECTED dyno pull. In other words, no fictitious multipliers have been added to compensate for drivetrain loss, just raw data. (Typically, dyno operators will apply a 15-20% positive correction factor, so if you want to compare this to other dyno charts, multiply accordingly)
