Looking for something different? Looking for a Hot Rod that nobody else has? Looking for a Big Block Mopar MUSCLECAR with Neck Snapping, Glue you to the seat Torque & HORSEPOWER? Looking for something that is just flat out Bad to the Bone yet won't break the bank? Well look no further, this is the car for you!!!< This hot rod 1969 Dodge Polara has been modified from end to end and made into the Monster that you see here. (See Videos at the bottom of the page). This creation has Ultra Hi-Performance upgrades from the engine compartment, to the driveline, to the exterior and interior while retaining that all important "STOCK" look for the ultimate "SLEEPER" Car......... Only this car is no Sleeper, it's a BEAST! In 1969 the Dodge Polara grew to new fame as the fastest CHP Police vehicle made. It's record as fastest police vehicle stood for nearly a quarter of a century. The powerplant for that car was a 440 with 375 horsepower stuffed into a 3,600 pound car, roughly the same weight as a Charger R/T or a Coronet R/T of musclecar fame. No doubt, a Polara can be a musclecar dressed up in a C-Body skin. With that said this project was built sparing no expense, over $25,000 invested in the project with over $8,500 invested in the motor alone. We estimate the engine to be making over 600 horsepower although it has never been on a dyno to find out. Starting with the car, it is a hard to find 1969 Dodge Polara 2-Door hardtop NO POST Coupe. It is an original Big Block car with Power Steering from Arizona and is solid and rust free. The car now resides in Texas. The original 383 has been replaced with a .30 over 440 engine block. The block, crank, and rods were magnafluxed to check for cracks before assembly, the crank was turned, and balanced, the recon'ed rods were shot peened for added strength. New pistons, rings, bearings, A.R.P. rod bolts, Fluiddamper were also added by D&S Engine Specialists. The machine work and parts alone was over $2,100. $4,500 worth of high performance parts were purchased from Mancini Racing including INDY SR Aluminum Cylinder Heads, Indy Rocker Shaft Oiling Kit, Indy Valve Covers, pushrods, Manley Head Bolts, Mopar "Purple Shaft" .509 Lift / 292 Duration Hydraulic Camshaft, rocker shafts, Crane Roller Rockers, True Roller timing chain, MSD Street Fire spark plug wires, gaskets, A.R.P. Main Bolts, Milodon 7 quart oil pan, Milodon pick up, March Performance Billet Aluminum Pulleys, etc. Custom coated 2" Long Tube Headers that flow far under the chassis into even larger collectors feed the exhaust into dual Spintech mufflers. For induction, the 440 breathes thru a 800cfm Edelbrock AVS Thunder Series Carburetor that is fed by a High Volume Electric Fuel Pump which is mounted to the core support. A large Mr. Gasket Aluminum Ported Spacer sits underneath the carburetor and carb and spacer sits atop a Weiand intake manifold. A Moroso air cleaner sits atop everything. Cooling this big block Dodge is a Custom made $500 / 5 core Aluminum Radiator with twin 10" TCI Electric Fans. The stock clutch fan is still in place and attached for added cooling. The $1,500 transmission is a built 727 Heavy Duty transmission with REVERSE MANUAL Valve Body. The transmission has been completly rebuilt with 4 pinion planetary gears, teflon coated washers, deep pan, overhaul kit, and more. Behind that is a CUSTOM DTS (Drive Train Service) Driveshaft which goes into a Custom Made DTS DANA 60 costing over $2,100. The DANA 60 is fitted with Custom STRANGE ENGINEERING S/T 35 SPLINE Axles with Screw In Wheel Studs, Timken Bearings, 3.73 Gears with a POWER-LOCK POSI. The car also has additional helper springs in the rear for traction. Stopping this beast is a set of Custom Manual Front DISC BRAKES from Ramchargers costing $955. The car rides on B.F. Goodrich Radial T/A P285/70R15 Rear Tires and General Ameritrac P235/75R15 Front Tires. A set of New HOOSIER Quick Time Pro 27/10.5-15 Street Slicks are included in the sale. The interior has been completly redone at a cost of over $1,700 (see pictures) with new vinyl seats, carpet, etc. The sunvisors were purchased recently from ebay and need to be dyed to match the interior. The Polara has an Auto Gauge by Auto Meter 10,000 R.P.M. Tachometer with reset and Shift Light. The car also has an array of aftermarket working gauges: oil pressure / volts / water temp / and speedometer gauge. The OEM factory dash gauges are either not hooked up or are inoperative. The car even comes with a rare Optional Clock which needs to be rebuilt but at least it is there in the dash. Horn, Turn Signals, Head Lights work as they should. The Trunk has also been completely redone and may be one of the best 1969 Polara trunks you will ever see (see pictures). Factory jack, a spare tire, and the original factory jack instructions are in the massive trunk too. The exterior has been repainted from F3 green to a darker shade of green with a blacked out grille and blacked out hood. The hood sports "440 Wedge" graphics to ward off anyone who might want to try and race this car. So why you ask is the car being sold? The plain and simple fact is it just dosen't get used. The owner is an adult, Veteran who is handicapped and wanted a great car to tinker with and now it's time to pass it along. Since acquiring it about 5 years ago, it has mostly sat in the new house's garage, just sitting, undriven. Now and then it's started up, warmed up, maybe driven a few blocks for fun but mostly it just is sitting around as cool toy to tinker with. The car may have less than 30 miles on it since obtained, it's driven that infrequently, the car has never been abused. As stated above, it has an electric fuel pump mounted to the core support which I recomend that you place in the rear near the fuel tank, and it has a new 800 cfm Edelbrock AVS Thunder Series Carburetor that was recently thrown on. The carburetor needs "Dialed-In", and the car needs a tune up, with a timing light and that's about it. A Saturday's afternoons work if you know how to do that stuff. There's also an exhaust leak that is somewhere, again a little fun left in the project for you. This 40 year old vehicle is being sold "AS-IS" with no warranty or guarantee of any kind. Please be aware this is a high performance car with loads of horsepower and torque and has a manual shift reverse valve body so you will need to get accustomed to shifting thru the gears as you drive the car. As stated, the car will need tuned up, dialed in, carburetor needs adjusting, and the fuel pump should be relocated. The owner is handicaped and just cannot work on cars easily anymore so he is starting the cars' auction price at a fraction of what is invested in it to make up for not getting around to tuneing and dialing in the car and adjusting the carb and finding and fixing the exhaust leak and stuff. This garage kept, adult, Veteran owned 1969 Dodge Polara is starting at an great, low price with NO RESERVE so it's going to have a new owner soon. At the end of the auction: At the end of the auction, your contact information, (name, phone number, e-mail, address) will be forwarded to the owner and his information to you. Payment: A $625.00 NON-REFUNDABLE DEPOSIT is required at the end of the auction paid by Pay Pal. The rest of the funds will need to be paid by Direct Bank Wire Transfer within 72 hours of the end of the auction. Since the car is being listed for my friend, You and Him will need to contact each other to complete the Bank Wire Transfer part of the deal. Shipping: The car needs to be picked up at the owners house here in Georgetown, Texas within 10 days of the end of the auction. The new owner needs to make all arrangements to pick up the car. Below is a video clip of the Polara a few years ago with a dialed in 830 Holley Carburetor. Below is a video clip of the Polara the other day with the 800 cfm Edelbrock AVS Carburetor. The carburetor needs to be dialed in and the car tuned up. . Just think of all the fun you will have beating an old Chevrolet Camaro and or Chevelle, and even a Ford Mustang or Mercury Cougar too, or how about other Mopar cars like the Dodge Challenger and Charger. A real great race would be a race against a 1970 or 1971 Plymouth Cuda with a 440 Six Pack or a HEMI. Just slap on those Hoosier Quick Time Pro cheater slicks, hold on, and watch their faces as you leave them in the dust in a 1969 Dodge Polara!
