Vehicle Detail
Normal 0 false false false MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 No Reserve Auction !!!! This is your chance to own this classy Mercedes 450 SLC, the most expensive Mercedes in 1977!!! Drive in style!!! Classic 70-ies color combination of metallic brown paint and tan interior! This car is a daily driver with 100% reliability record in over 8 years of our ownership! It starts right up and idles very smoothly at 550 rpm as you can see in the dash close up photo. At 550rpm engine speed the oil pressure is about 18 lb / sq in; for comparison I included a picture with 1100 rpm at which engine speed the engine reaches full oil pressure at 45 lb / sq in: this engine is very healthy and smooth!! No dreaded rattles from the timing chain either!! The transmission shifts smoothly through the gears!! Regular oil and filter changes every 3000 miles!! I bought the car in California and brought it to Florida, so it has seen only sunshine, no winters, no salt!! It has 4 electric windows, electric sunroof, power locks, new upholstery, rebuilt/refurbished fuel distributor (a new one cost over $2100!) new front suspension linkage restored Bund forged alloy wheels 6 1/2" x 14" fully restored louver windows (replacement costs over $650 each!!) power steering power breaks recent A/C receiver/dryer This is the longer wheelbase version of the SL, which transformed it into a really well handling car. That's why Mercedes used this body style to compete in Rallies!!! Which means it’s not only comfortable, but also fun to drive!! A daily driver: travel in style and enjoy the increase in value of this rare collector’s vehicle!! It's surprisingly economical compared to the depreciation of a new car... It is a 33 year old car and shows some signs and patina consummate of that age! By means of full disclosure I'd like to mention that the tires are tiered and should be changed, the left rear window stopped working from one day to the next which makes me think it is just an electrical glitch, the blower motor stopped working (the A/C was working up to that point!). A new blower motor is about $250 and an easy swap. There are some small rust bubbles on the trunk lid and one spot where it closes, easy fixes. Radio is not connected yet but used to work prior (the connection is still set up for an Eclipse radio, I thought I mention it just in case!) Good luck bidding!! Remember: this is a no reserve auction!!!!!!!!!!!
