Vehicle Detail

Very rare 1959 Chevrolet Kingswood 9 passenger wagon, I call it "Frankenchevy" This is an 81,000 mile car. The build is about 3 years old but hasn't traveled 5,000 miles since completion. I was told engine is a rebuilt 1967 GTO 30 over 400 cu.in. that is basically stock and runs excellent. It can sit for 6 mos. and will fire right up with no funny noises. It has twin AFB's but wont open second carb unless you put your foot in it, therefor it averages about 15 mpg. It also has GM electronic ignition, single wire alternator, Optima battery, dual remote oil filters, Griffin radiator handles the cooling, Turbo 400 trans shifts nice and positive, u-joints and center carrier bearing were replaced, new bearings and seals in the rear end, new gas tank and sending unit but it only shows half way when filled. New dual exhaust, brakes were all gone through and the fronts are disc. with proper style manual dual resivoir master cylinder. Front suspension was also gone through and upgraded to rack and pinion. A new heater core was installed and will roast you out! All the exterior lights work, turn signals, dome light, etc. Car drives straight down the road and it will definitely roll down the highway. It's a blast to drive and it gets more attention than any show cars that happen to be around. This car still has it's original paint! Fenders and hood were replaced with better pieces and painted up in Rat Rod style. I've got $1,000 in the tailgate and it took 6 mos. to find, you talk about scarce! That was the worst thing on the car. The floors are all original and do have a very small hole or two, floor braces have some rust through but I wouldn't touch a thing unless your going to do a ground up. The 3 seat floor area is the worst but it's basically flat, spare tire area has rust through also but it's a fair weather driver so who cares. As I said this car still wears it's original paint! The luggage rack is a nice piece and rare in it's own right. The interior is all original and the trim is pretty nice. There was a tear in the drivers seat bottom and I was lucky enough to find the original material from 1958( material is made a year prior to the model year). I bought enough to do the first and second row seat(expensive) and also had them add addl. 1" foam to front and back seats when being redone, they are very comfortable. The 3rd row seat is original and the matching material is still nice without tears. I believe all the glass is original with no cracks but I thing there is one bullseye in the windshield. Headliner is also nice as are the sun visors, I thing there's a 1" split in the headliner and it's a little dirty but thats it! It's missing the drivers side armrest but the others are nice and you can find them from time to time. I forgot to mention there is a hole behind the drivers side rear axle in the frame where the mice built their home but it doesn't compromise the integrity and it could be repaired with steel plate, all the rest is very clean! The tailgate power window works from a switch under the dash, there is a switch for third row passengers that doesn't work but I dont care and I've never investigated as to why. There was a lot of time and money spent on this car to build and if it was touched it was done right. This is a way cool driver that you can drive anywhere. You just dont see these cars come around much, their either inop. junk or their 15 grand or better for something nice. I'd like to keep the Radir wheels and tires and the trailer hitch and will supply buyer with rollers only. If you want these add $1,000.00 to the final price as the reserve will be priced accordingly. Oh I've also got the original key! Remember comes with rollers only or add $1,000.00! Just gives you a money option. No warranties implied or written, title is in my name with no liens(clear) Buyers with less than 5 feedback will be blocked, please dont bid if you cant buy or need to get permission first. On Jul-15-10 at 20:14:27 PDT, seller added the following information: I must say, all the weatherstripping is still pretty soft, all the doors open and close nice, the stainless around the window channels is nice, window felts are still good, a few of the window fuzzies are deteriorating, but all and all still darn good for a 51 year old. Glass is still nice and clear with no bubbling or fogging. Ever drive an old car from out west with the weatherstrips cooked off and the windows all rattling because the felt is gone, all the window stops crumbled, so much noise you cant hear yourself think! That's what typically cracks the glass. Everything fried like an egg, brittle, and turns to dust when you touch it. Much nicer than a car that's been baking out west! That's the original carpet with the floor mats made into them like they had in 59, a few cracks but still rubbery and pliable, as is the rest of the interior. Makes for a nice driver without the major restoration costs associated with interiors, glass, felts, etc.
