Hood Striping: Blue and Red are both on the hood but only the Red extends down both doors Wheel covers: Cotillion White to match the body When it was announced to the world that Cadillac would only produce 200 of the very special "Bicentennial Convertibles" one can only imagine the pressure put on the Cadillac factory by it's more than 1600 Franchised Cadillac Dealers to end up with one of these cars. Of course one was kept by GM who stills owns the car and has it on display in the General Motors Heritage Center.. Jack Grassi of Greenwich, Connecticut was among the elite of the elite when it came to operating and running a 1st class Cadillac dealership. Jack had worked for the Cadillac factory division for almost 20 years and when he decided to retire from Cadillac the factory wanted him to remain in the "Cadillac Family" and as a result of his outstanding work ethic with Cadillac, Jack was awarded the prestigious Cadillac franchise in Greenwich, Connecticut. Over the next 20 years he became well knowned in the automobile industry as "Cadillac Jack" His reputation was so impeccable for service and courtesy that new dealers were often sent to study his method of operation prior to opening their new Cadillac Franchised store. When this car arrived at his dealership, Grassi Cadillac, Jack had it serviced and then placed on his showroom floor. They decided never to sell this car and had the car registered & titled in his name in December of 1978. Almost every mile on this car was by Jack Grassi and his wife....they truly love this very special car! This car has never spent a single night outdoors nor has it been driven in any inclement weather. Jack had this car Ziebarted (rust-proofed) and you can see the plastic access holes when you open the door jams. We see no sign or evidence of any past or present rust! We urge you to come and inspect this car for yourself. We have two lifts in the rear of the car museum and we will be happy to have you or your inspector examine the undercarriage up on our lift. This car is in showroom new condition. Jack is a close friend of the owner of the Cars Of Dreams car museum in North Palm beach and due to health reasons he decided to offer this car to the museum. It was purchased by Cars From Dreams, LLC on May 4th, 2010 with 2037 miles. I had the great pleasure to meet Jack & his beautiful wife....they both are incredible wonderful people! Everything works as it should on this car and the only thing that has been changed or modified on this car is the installation of a secret anti-theft device. This will only be revealed to the new owner and winning bidder. In a few of the photos you can see this car inside our storage "Vault" area with both the Flags from Italy & the U.S. I realized after I looked at the photos I had the flag on the wrong side of the car. Also a photo of the box they came in....both flags are included with the sale of this unique car. The Grassi's drove this car in several parades and some very famous people had the priviledge of riding in this car with Jack & his lovely wife. Paperwork includes: 1. A letter from Mr. A. E. Collier, National Distribution Manager with Cadillac dated April 20th to Grassi Cadillac with regards to the special plaque and where and how it is supposed to be attached to the dash. 2.The completed dealer inspection report dated May 13th, 1976 when this car was inspected and put into service 3.Title in the original FIRST owners name, Mr. Jack Grassi.(see explanation under 5.) 4.The Car arrived on May 13th, 1976 at Grassi Cadillac and after being inspected it was placed on the showroom floor of Grassi Cadillac. All new cars have an MSO (Manufacturers Statement of Origin) 5.On December 29th, 1978, the Cadillac was sold to it's First and only owner, Jack D. Grassi. I can not imagine why you would NOT want our car because it is one of the most documented and well preserved ones on the planet and the absolute LOWEST priced one with actual low mileage that is FULLY DOCUMENTED FROM DAY ONE!...but in the interest of keeping anyone from buying a fake or counterfeit, we wanted to give you the knowledge to prevent this All Bicentennials start out loaded with all available equipment including the hard parade boot. The only exception to this will be if your car was produced for the California market, then it will include the VJ9 California Emission Equipment & Testing option at a cost of $50.00. All are the exact same color.....#11 Cotillion White body color, White Leather Interior with red piping, Dark Firethorn Carpet with red dash and seat belts. All have a white convertible top. The pin stripping, #3 Blue and #8 Red is unique to this model only. Blue and Red are both on the hood but only the Red extends down both doors. Another unique item is the Wheel Cover Centers, they are painted Cotillion White to match the body where as all other Eldorados came with #19 Sable Black Centers. Another very important item that lets you know you have the "real deal" is a small gold engraved plaque on the dash just above the glove box door. It states “This 1976 Cadillac Fleetwood Eldorado is one of the last 200 identical U.S. production convertibles" To locate your Body Number Tag and number, check under the hood below the windshield on the passenger side close to the firewall. It is a black metal tag with the top line reading BODY BY FISHER. The end of the second line is where you find your Body Number. If you have a TRUE Bicentennial Eldorado your number will be between and including numbers 013801 thru 013999. There are only 199 of these cars out there. That is it! #14000 was the last one made and is held by GM making it #200. This is the only way to know for sure if you have a true '1976 Cadillac Fleetwood Bicentennial Eldorado'. Hopefully this helps explain what to look for when on the hunt for this truly Rare and “Last of the Breed” BIG Eldorados.
