It was acquired over a year ago by the owner of the world famous Cars Of Dreams car museum in North Palm Beach, Florida. John's request was simple...but VERY expensive and time consuming! He wanted the car left original in appearance but wanted it to drive like a modern automobile while retaining the original engine. The car you see on Ebay is "Unique in all the World" In excess of $200,000 have been spent on this one of a kind 1958 Chevrolet Impala! This very, very special Impala was built expressly for the owner of the fabulous "Cars Of Dreams" Museum in North Palm Beach,FL. The work was done by master world renowned car builder Ben Diener of Lake Park,Florida. I have had the pleasure of personally knowing Ben since the mid 1980's and his work is without equal. He has built some of the world's finest custom cars under his name "Dienerbilt" He was given an "open Checkbook" and the car being offered up for auction on Ebay is the result. We search for a long time to find an unmolested Black 348 tri-power Chevy and finally purchased this car 100% stock for $55,000....then Ben went to work to create his automobile magic. It would take 10 pages and hours to list everything that was done...so I will just highlight some of the things that were done to this Impala. Install Chevrolet Power front 11" disc brakes with vented rotors, calipers and pads with 8" dual diaphragm, Power Booster, Master cylinder,combination valve kit all new brake hoses, bearings, seals and caps. 2. Brand new Chevrolet Impala Vintage Air-conditioning (134R Freon/12 oz) 3.TH-350 HD transmission (smooth shift) and stock 1800 torque converter. Install Dynamat cover around transmission for insulation and quiet. 4. 1958 Chevrolet Power steering pump conversion kit with integral power steering box. All new power steering hoses. 5. 1958 Chevrolet Impala Modern 605 power steering box & linkage kit. Update suspension for better handling. 6. GM polished 110amp alternator 7.Power Master torque starter 8.All new belts. Align front end. Replace suspension parts as required. 9.Move front seat 3" back and build & create a SIX way electric power seat 7. Remove old carpeting and install complete dynamat insulation and correct new carpeting. 8.Rebuild all 3 carburators 9. Balance R & Driveshaft and modify cross members for TH350 HD transmission. 10. Build new brackets for new Alternator. Fabricate brackets for power steering pump & air-conditioning.. 11.Rewire everything as required. 12.Custom modify tri power original factory air cleaner for addition of new modern components under the hood. 13. Custom install all new power windows as well as make both vent windows operate by power. 14. Install tilt steering wheel column and tilt wheel. 15. Sublet all custom stereo work to World of Sound Audio & Video Center. 16. Fabricate and install new custom exhaust system and brackets. 17. Strip and complete complete undercarriage and undercoat to factory specs. 18. All new correct Chevrolet Interior & headliner. 19.The car was Painted to Perfection and all the Chrome was triple painted. The body & paint are the best I have ever seen on a 1958 Impala hardtop. Note: All labor was done at reduced rate of $80.00 per hour( estimated labor time to complete 1200+ hours) If you want the very best and can afford the very best....here it is. This car is Museum Quality and in SHOW CONDITION! John wanted a 1958 Original looking 58 Impala that he could hop in and drive anywhere, any time in complete comfort....and he succeeded in doing exactly that. He did the same thing a couple of years ago with a 1961 Rolls Royce and had a complete power train installed from a new Cadillac Northstar STS. Ben & Mike did all the work and over $200,000 was spent to complete this undertaking. (plus $65,000 for the purchase of the Rolls Royce.) The owner keeps all his cars for 1- 3 years...then sells them (at a very substantial loss) and replaces them with other spectacular cars or takes on several more projects. John has driven this car approx. 150 miles since it has been completed. All of his cars are started once a month and driven a couple of miles. Checked for any problems, even minor leaks, fixed if necessary and then put back in the Museum with a trickle charge kept on every single car. John has done the same thing with mega-super yachts and built "The World is not enough" to ultimately attain the world speed record for a 141' Super yacht....71knots with 22,000 horsepower. In this attempt, the Yacht hit 65mph but a few month's later the record was broken...70knots ....approx. 80MPH.
