NO RESERVE ** MUST SELL - For sale is our 1973 VW Thing. Comes with fiberglass hard-top, and the 'side curtain' windows (somewhat shown in the back seat pic) - they are in good shape with white vinyl trim. For those of you unfamiliar with THINGS, the top does come off! Mechanic went out of business before he completed re-assembly. Engine was out and re-install, but we have no idea if it is the rebuilt one with new clutch and pressure plate that we paid for. Title is good and up to date. Floor boards are solid and appear to be original. Mechanic had a friend paint it Russian Military Green. Tires are good. Comes with spare tire, two sets of front bucket seats. Rear window is cracked but functional. Rear drivers side window in hardtop is missing. Actual Mileage unknown. Car is complete, but in parts as shown in pics. As such, THING is being sold AS IS, WHERE IS. You will have to bring a tow bar or your trailer. New job prohibits me from finishing myself. Use the 'buy it now' before July 4th, and I will include a tow bar (for 2" ball) & towing light set. Our loss is your gain. Cash, PayPal, Visa or Discover. ADDED July 1, 2010 Thanks for the overwhelming responses this auction! I will continue to answer questions & emails to the best of my ability. I would ask the following; #1- PLEASE - No questions concerning drivability (i.e. 'how does it run' 'I live XX-miles away, can I drive it home' etc.) Please see the pics. Car ran and drove with decent brakes before disassembly. As you can see, it was not re-assembled. Engine was out & re-installed. I cannot guarantee it was rebuilt or installed with the new pressure plate and clutch that we paid for. Engine turns (by hand). I have not tried to start it since I towed it home from the shop that was paid for a total rebuild (after 1 year & 1 month, vehicle had to be towed from shop in the condition you see). Please don't ask the name of the shop; we are involved in a lawsuit. #2 - Please understand Vehicle may be subject to on site cash sale, prior to close of auction if there are no existing bids at time of local showing. I WILL check to see if there are any EBAY bids 15 minutes before and after and local showings and act accordingly.
