Vehicle Detail

For auction is my SPECTACULAR , FRAME-OFF RESTORED , NUMBERS MATCHING, MINT 1973 BMW R60/5 with Toaster Tank!! This bike has been carefully ridden only 112 miles since professionally restored by the RENOWNED MAX BMW of New Hampshire. This is virtually a NEW BIKE. It is immaculate with no dents, scratches or chips. It starts, runs, rides and shifts as it should. I am selling this show-worthy beauty because my wife and I have our home on the market and are selling all our toys before our move out of state. The owner of a Chevrolet dealership had this bike professionally restored by the RENOWNED MAX BMW of New Hampshire, with NO EXPENSE SPARED. He did this as a gift to his wife, but she later decided to purchase and ride a Harley instead. I am the first person to put miles on this bike since it was restored...a total of only 112 miles. There are 15,632 miles showing on the odometer, which were verified as original and true miles on the title's odometer disclosure when I purchased this bike. Professional attention to detail is obvious here. $10,000.00 was spent on the restoration alone. I have 15 pages of receipt documentation of this which I will share with serious bidders if they desire. Once you see the photos, you will see why it cost what it did. Nothing was overlooked by the MAX people. The motor was rebuilt. The frame and sub-frame were black powder coated and all painted areas except the tank received custom glossy black paint/hand pinstriping. The tank has it's original black PERFECT paint with the mirror-finish, spotless chrome toaster sides. Every part on this bike was either replaced or re-chromed if indicated to bring it to it's as-new condition, right down to the smallest springs, bolts and washers. Here is a PARTIAL list of new: Center stand, stainless spokes, clutch plates, clutch pressure plates and springs, fork seals and boots, acc pump, oil pressure switch, speedo/tacho cables, front axel, rear drum brake, Metzler tires (112 miles), clutch cable, brake rod, hub caps, headlamp insert, reflectors, cable boots, bulbs, needle bearing, header pipes, stainless steel mufflers, rear seal, damper plates, pistons, engine gaskets, reed valve, timing chain, timing chain tensioner, seals, bearings, valve guides, oil filer, air filter, all oils in engine/trans, fork oil, air tubes, fuel taps, gas cap, tool kit, owner's manual, German/English parts manual, passenger and driver foot pegs, hand grips, tank emblems, rear Ikon shocks, seat hinge, plugs, points, condenser, plug wires, cable boot, fuel lines. I am a perfectionist when it comes to maintaining the superior condition of my toys. With that, let me say that the condition of this BMW makes me very happy. I want the new owner to be 100% satisfied with this fine vintage motorcycle, so PLEASE ask me as many questions as you need answers to, and I will be happy to share exactly what I know. Please no highly technical stuff though...This is my first BMW and I am not a mechanic. Here is a short list of what I feel some people may consider negative aspects about this bike: 1. This model has no choke, so when cold, both carbs must be primed for a few seconds before ignition, then the throttle needs to be "nursed" for a short time until the bike is warm enough to idle by itself. The idle may be set slightly low right now. It starts immediately when cold and has both electric and kick start option. Both function properly. 2. When the tank has been filled to capacity and the bike is parked in the hot sun with the fuel petcock on, fuel occasionally drips from the top of the right carb fuel tickler...not certain if this is usual for the bike, but I shut off the petcock when parked to keep this from occuring. 3. The neutral light does not function, and may simply be burnt out. 4. There is only the ignition key. The key to lock the forks and seat is missing. They remain unlocked. 5. This is not really a negative, but good information just the same: The speedomoeter/odometer/tachometer face has not been restored...probably because it still looks great and operates properly. THE GLASS STREAKS YOU SEE IN THE SPEEDOMETER PHOTO ARE REFLECTIONS FROM THE SUN, MY UGLY MUG AND CAMERA. The glass is perfectly clear. Anyone will be proud to own this wonderful vintage BMW. In my opinion it may seem too nice for anything but show, but as some say: "RIDE 'EM, DON'T HIDE 'EM." I will not respond to bidders with a less than 100% feedback rating. I will not discuss my reserve price, but can assure you that it is FAR LESS than what has been invested in this "BLACK BEAUTY". Shipping arrangements are the buyer's responsibility, but I will be happy to communicate with your shipper and be available for pick-up from my residence. There are several cycle shipment companies available on the net, but I would like to suggest JC motors, as they are extremely knowledgeable about specialty/vintage bike transport and boxer engines. They use enclosed trailers and apply sheepskin tie-down. This bike will not be released to the shipper until funds clear the bank.
