Vehicle Detail

1969 Chevrolet K/5 Blazer Lt. Blue / Lt. Blue VIN BKE149S883623 Eng. V0709WP – Casting 3970010 This K/5 Blazer was sold new at SCHONLAW CHEVROLET, Hollywood, CA in 1969. It has no rust, or accident damage and is one of the best bodied trucks I have ever seen. Listed below is an outline of the condition. Body and Interior: The rust free and accident free body was repainted three years ago in original light blue with period correct single stage acrylic enamel. All of the seals were replaced at the time of repaint. The engine compartment, firewall, and dashboard still retain their original paint, factory chalk markings, and decals to reflect the preservation quality of this truck. The front and rear rubber floor mats are in exceptional original condition as well. Overall, the upholstery is original and un-restored. The driver seat bottom has been torn from normal use and is temporarily covered. The driver seat back, passenger seat and rear seats are in excellent original condition. The steering wheel/horn, gauges, knobs, and controls are all original and functioning properly. Engine and Powertrain Options: According to my research, Engine V0709WP was built at the Flint, MI plant on July ninth, which corresponds perfectly with the August 28th Date of Original Retail Sale as documented on the Owner Protection Plan Certificate (Protect-O-Plate). The matching numbers original engine was recently (less than 1,000 miles ago) completely rebuilt as a 4-bolt main 350 with Rochester 4 barrel QuadraJet; 255 HP and 355 Torque - Gross. Documented OEM spec rebuild: 9.0:1 Compression ratio with .030 oversized pistons. All machining performed at reputable local shop (receipts available). The dual exhaust is properly routed behind the rear wheels, and the exhaust manifolds are cast iron original GM ram-horns with cold start valve and intake stove for the factory air cleaner to assist the properly functioning automatic choke on the carburetor. Needless to say, the truck runs flawlessly. The TurboHydramatic transmission is in excellent condition and shifts well without noise. Excellent condition “Deep Lug” original nylon spare tire, with exact tread pattern match on all four new 15 x 7 tires on standard wheels and covers. Original Dana 44 front axle with GM 2-Speed transfer case and 12 bolt rear axle with 3.07 ratios. Optional Factory “Frigidaire” Air Conditioning; “Delco” Am Radio; Power Steering; Power Brakes; New “Delco Energizer” Battery, and correct Delco alternator. This is a very well preserved first year Blazer that is as nice as it is rare. It is a fun truck to drive and can be driven regularly and enjoyed. To fully appreciate and understand this vehicle, I recommend reading Brock Yates “Viewpoint” in Car and Driver, April 1970. The odometer reads 73,454, and has maintenance receipts dating back to the 1970s supporting this original mileage. Shipping is the responsibility of the buyer.
