Vehicle Detail
Hi This land cruiser has been my daily driver for 7 or 8 years. It runs good and I would drive it anywhere without fear but its no garage queen. At 27 years old, it has dings and scratches. More importantly than the monies I make on this sale is my reputation and my obligation to make sure I represent this truck correctly. I do not want you to pick it up and be disappointed so I will absolutely do my best to describe the pluses and minuses in owning it. Anyone that knows anything at all about mid 80's land cruisers know that this vehicle is over built, even by today's standards. If you crawl under the truck you'll see the differential and drive shaft are bigger than anything else in its class. It was designed with the ability to repair in field; there are no electrics to go bad, it has a carburetor when most vehicles of its age already had fuel injections. The land cruiser has a hand choke, manual roll up windows and gear driven timing verses a belt or chain. This isnt a fast truck but it has gobs of torque and geared very low. It will drive effortlessly all day at 65-70mph and get around 15mpg. I drive it regularly to my childhood home in Colorado, 300 miles away. Most of the following work has been done in the last 2 to 3 years unless otherwise noted: new 31x10.50R15 LT radials less than 10k ago (these tires have a mileage warranty from discount tire, either 40 or 60k I cant remember) new rear brakes, drums and brake cylinders rebuilt emergency brake re-arched springs with 1 inch lift and new shocks greaseable shackles and PU bushings extended axle breathers new front u joints rebuilt transmission (9 years ago), rebuilt transfer and rear diff, transmission shifts perfectly new steering stabilizer and new used power steering pump, 4 years ago re-corded radiator with toyota red anti freeze in it K & N air filter carb fan works with remote switch inside truck hand throttle recent valve adjustment, new plugs, belts and an alignment new battery desmogged 2F engine, and carb rebuilt 42k ago new clutch 42k miles ago A/C works and blows cold, no leaks to A/C or anywhere on truck 4 x 4 works well CD player fair, sometimes hard to get disk out, with polk audio and JBL speaks real sheep skin seat covers front and rear wipers and washers work well dash lights replaced with orange bulbs FJ62 passenger grab bar new driver side window regulator new front windshield class II (2 inch) receive with correct wiring harness recent straight exhaust new front rotors all locks and lights work no noises, or rattles, a solid, good running daily driver. problem: oil pressure guage does not work. I confirmed its the guage with a mechanical engine mounted guage (good pressure) speaker cover is off on one speaker, old interior panels have made mounting speakers difficult and may need to be remounted drivers interior door panel with 6 inch rip next to handle passenger sun visor will not stay up on its own previous owner installed what appears to be non automotive carpet throughout. It works ok but doesnt fit perfect. idles rough at 600rpm but just slightly above idle, its smooth. I attribute this to vehicle being desmogged and living at 7,000 feet There arent any dents on the vehicle, shadows in the photo may appear that way. There are dings and scratches here and there. The paint is in good condition for its age. The Flagstaff airport has direct flights between Phoenix, 140 miles to the south and Los Angeles. We also have Amtrak and Greyhound stations. Please keep in mind that this is an old car with many cosmetic flaws. Please email or call with questions, 928-600-8586 Good luck and happy bidding Mark On Jun-30-10 at 22:40:58 PDT, seller added the following information:the car fax is lower you'd expect. It claims a title/lease issue. This must have been years back. I have a current title in my name without issue. its not a salvage or anyother problem title, its a clear Arizona title in my name. thanksOn Jun-30-10 at 22:51:02 PDT, seller added the following information:in the garage, I just found a skid plate for the engine that will be included. additionally, I have a rochester carb and Austrailian distributor that I believe will solve any short comings of desmoging this vehicle. The distributor has a different advance so essentially the distributor curve is different. My research seems to head me to think that any idle issues are the result of desmogging the vehicle with the factory distributor. mark
