Vehicle Detail
Attention Triumph enthusiasts: You are viewing an original Triumph TR4 "garage find" that has been stored and covered for the last 20 years. I purchased the Triumph from a gentleman that had inherited it from his Grandfather and he had kept it in storage for quite a few years. It's been about 8 years since it was last started. The engine does turn over, but beyond that I have not attempted to get it running. The car shows 101,000 original miles. The Triumph is an all original unrestored example that has had one repaint in the original color. The body is in good original condition and is very solid. The frame and floors appear to be in solid condition with no evidence of rust. The body itself is in very good condition considering it's 50 years old. The paint is old and is flaking in a few spots, but overall is very presentable. There is some evidence of bondo in a few place from when the car was painted many years ago. There is really no rust on the body, and the original factory seams on the rockers are present. The weather stripping on the windshield is dried out and cracked. The convertible top is in excellent condition and fits nicely. There are no rips and the rear windows are clear. The interior is in good shape. The carpets are in good shape and the door panels appear to be all original and in good condition. The original seats were replaced many years ago with MG seats. They are in pretty good shape and fit fine. The dash and gauges are all in good shape. There is a crack in the dash, but otherwise it has held up nicely. It still has the original factory banjo style steering wheel which is in good condition. As stated, the engine does turn over, but is not presently in running condition. At the very least, it will need the carbs rebuilt and some fresh gas. The brakes are not locked up, so it will move easily. The clutch and brake hydraulics will also need to be rebuilt. The Triumph has a nice set of matched Michelin Tires and the Wire wheels are in excellent condition. At some point the engine compartment had been painted black, which was a common thing back in the day. The car is the original color and has not had a color change. The trunk is in good shape with no rust or damage. There is no spare tire. All lenses are in good condition. The bumpers are straight and the chrome is well preserved. This Triumph represents a wonderful opportunity to restore a very early TR4. The Triumph is titled as a 1961 but I believe it was manufactured in 1962 which is considered the first year of production. I will consider a "buy it now" price for the motivated buyer that appreciates the rarity and value of a very early unrestored TR4. I have done my best to describe the Triumph to the best of my ability. I may have missed something, so ask any questions that may not have been addressed. Comes with a clear Michigan title. The fine print: I am selling the Triumph in "as is" condition with no warranty expressed or implied. My feedback speaks for itself, so you can bid with confidence. If you have 2 or more negative feedback ratings or 0 feedback rating, you must contact me prior to bidding. If you have 2 unpaid auctions, you will also need to contact me - if not, your bid may be cancelled. I require a $500.00 non-refundable deposit preferably by paypal within 24 hours of the end of the auction. The balance is due within 3 days of the auction end date. The car must be picked up within 10 days of the auction end. A $20.00 storage fee per day will be charged beyond the 10 day period unless prior arrangements have been made. I require a bank check or wire transfer for final payment. If paying in person, cash must be paid. If you are an International bidder, I will be happy to assist in any way I can. I have sold several cars overseas and the buyers were extremely satisfied with their experience.
