Vehicle Detail

1979 Pontiac Trans Am6.6 Litre / 403 Automatic Dark "Nocturne" Blue with Light Blue Interior Former Volo Auto Museum Vehicle ALL ORIGINAL - 20k Actual Miles Up for your bidding consideration is a beautiful and very clean, 100% ALL ORIGINAL, Nocturne Blue Iridescent 1979 Pontiac Trans Am with only 20,539 miles! This stunning car was purchased from the original owner by the Volo Auto Museum, in Volo Illinois, and then purchased by myself the day after it was put on the showroom floor, essentially making me the second owner of the car. I bought the car from Volo on August 30, 2004 with 18,400 miles. It is now almost six years later and the car still only has 20k miles on it! It is very difficult to find an all original '79 TA in as good of shape as this one. The car is in near mint condition with mainly only minor exterior flaws that I will explain in detail later. Everything on the car is original and nothing has been changed... When I say nothing, I mean NOTHING, down to the tires! Mechanically, the car is PERFECT! It runs like new and is ready to be driven cross county and back! I absolutely love this car and the only reason I am selling it is my wife and I have our second daughter on the way, so I am selling one baby to take care of another ;) Here is a list of options, accessories and comments straight from the Volo Museum Window Sticker (which I have scanned and included in the photos). Options and Accessories: air conditioned, power disc brakes, tilt column, power windows, deluxe interior, rear defog, sport mirrors, power steering, am-fm stereo, cruise control, power locks, tinted glass, tachometer and gauges, original floor mats. * What they forgot to mention was the Hy-gain CB Radio and the Chapman Alarm System that the original owner had installed in 1979! Both still work perfectly, though the CB antenna was disconnected and stored in the trunk. This was so a custom cover would fit over the car. Comments: THIS IS ONE OF THE CLEANEST, ORIGINAL TRANS AM'S I HAVE EVER SEEN! ALL ORIGINAL PAINT IN NEW CONDITION, NOT EVEN A DOOR DING! PERFECT INTERIOR WITH NOTHING CUT OR ALTERED. 18K ACTUAL MILES, BOUGHT FROM THE ORIGINAL FUSSY OWNER. EVEN THE TIRES ARE ORIGINAL. DRIVES PERFECT EVERYTHING WORKS EVEN THE CLOCK. ONLY 3 ITEMS HAVE BEEN CHANGED SINCE NEW. I ADDITION OF A COMBINATION, NOTHING ALTERED. Z CHAPMAN ALARM AND REPLACEMENT BATTERY. STILL EVEN THE ORIGINAL EXHAUST. HAVE MANUALS, BUCKET SEATS, BUILD SHEET AND MORE. VERY EYE APPEALING COLORS. QUICKEST APPRECIATING CAR ON THE MARKET. APPRAISED VALUE $20,000 (Volo Auto Museum Appraisal - 2004) It is very important to me that anyone bidding on this car knows exactly what they are getting, so I am going to be as honest and descriptive as possible. Like I said, the car is absolutely gorgeous inside and out. The main flaws would be minor scratches and imperfections in the paint due to possible tree sap. There is a chip on the top of the rear spoiler and two chips at the top of the trunk where the trunk meets the glass (which is included in the photos). These two marks at the top of the trunk were caused by the CB antenna being screwed onto the paint in '79. There is a scratch by one of the small bird decals and the large bird decal on the hood has slight wear and a little cracking along the edge. Please, do not let my detailed description fool you, the decals look great! You can judge for yourself by the photos. The frame/body of the car is beautiful and nearly perfect. The only "damage" to the body is a cracked piece on the driver's side front grille (included in the photos) and a cracked weather strip on the bottom of the driver's side window. I personally rate the exterior of this car at a 9. I rate the interior a 9.8! The inside of this car is so close perfection, it's cleaner than most new cars I've owned! Everything from the steering wheel, dash, gauges, radio/CB, glove compartment, console, gear shift, pedals, seats and upholstery, power controls, lights and even the clock are PERFECT. There are only two imperfections in the interior of the vehicle: very slight discoloration on small sections of the carpet on the floor, due to 31 years of driving and the very thin chrome foil on the driver's side door panel has flaked off along the top. THAT'S IT! Please forgive me for using so much emotion in my description, but I am very passionate about this car and want you to realize how exceptional it really is. I have many of the original documents that came with this Trans Am from the original owner including the manual, original warranty and tire warranty info, 1979 GM maintenance info booklet, Elk Grove Village Receipts, original bill of sale, and more. I even have the original keychain and emblem sticker from Howard Pontiac in Elmhurst, Illinois (the original dealer). Also included is a custom fit Weather Shield indoor/outdoor car cover, made for a 1979 Trans Am, that I had purchased online for $350. There is a slight tear on the rear of the cover by the trunk, but is still perfectly usable as an indoor cover. If you have any questions or would like to see additional photos, please feel free to ask. I am asking a very fair reserve price with thousands of dollars in between that and the Buy It Now price to make this as fair an auction as possible, so please do not ask me for the reserve price. Also, no trade offers please, as I have already explained why I am selling the car. This vehicle is being sold in "as is" condition with no warranty. I require the vehicle to be paid in full within 7 days of the auction closing. $500 deposit is required within 2 days of auction closing to secure vehicle. Serious bidders only, please. Thank you very much, good luck and happy bidding! On May-26-10 at 18:39:48 PDT, seller added the following information:**The vehicle will be moved from its storage location shortly, so it may have an additional 25-50 miles by auction's end.**On May-26-10 at 21:16:25 PDT, seller added the following information:**All of the above information about the vehicle is true to best of my knowledge. All of the specifics listed are EXACTLY the same that were given to me by Volo Auto Museum and I have changed nothing. By listing the car as "all original," I am going by Volo's word that the information that was given to me is accurate. If you have further concerns, please feel free to email me.**
