HISTORY The Mitsubishi Diamante was first introduced to the public at the Tokyo Motor Show in 1989, and went on sale in Japan in May 1990. There have been rumors that the Diamante was either not intended for a Japanese launch, or it might have been planned as a low-volume model. The reason for this argument is that until 1989, the width of vehicles was a vital indication of taxation class. The Diamante, being wider than the 1,700 mm (66.9 in) break (station wagon), would have suffered a large tax penalty against most of its rivals, which were designed to be just under limit. At the time, Mitsubishi's image was also considered less than ideal for the marketing of a luxury car—its most expensive offering that the time.However, the tax situation had changed in 1989, and the Diamante became the surprise hit of 1990. The Japanese spec Diamante was built from 1990 until 1995 and was available in front and all-wheel drive.These were exported around the world after 1992.Mitsubishi Motors North America seemed to have sourced their Diamantes from both Australia and Japan. It was available in three trim levels, all front-wheel drive and automatic only. Following the successful introduction of its luxury four-door sedan, Mitsubishi extensively studied current design and sales trends and came away convinced that the market for station wagons will continue to increase throughout the '90's. It also learned that many owners and prospective buyers look upon the station wagon as a logical extension of their sedan when their need increases for added space and versatility. They want more room for hauling people and things, but not at the expense of amenities and performance. With these findings Mitsubishi designers and engineers went to work, and deftly reconfigured the Diamante sedan into an attractive and practical station wagon. A lot of Mitsubishi Diamante cars were made but only a few WAGONS were made so this car is RARE!!! It is guaranteed that you will not see this car around daily!!! This car is in fair shape and was female driven. Transmission, motor and everything is good. It has a new belt, ball joints all around and the alternator was changed a few months ago. This car has leather seats(drivers seat has some rips and tares), Cold AC, Warm Heat, and so much more! Also i have new spark plugs that the winner bidder can have! It needs the following repairs: a motor for the driver's side window ($40), may need breaks,tires,the passenger door doesnt lock automactically(off track),the glove department needs something to hold it up, it may have a small oil leak and the radio needs to be program(go to any Mitsubishi dealer and they will program it). These are the only repairs that need to be made to my knowledge if other applies the buyer is 100% percent responsible to repair them!! This car is Pennsylvania inspected and has a clear title!!
