Vehicle Detail
This is my high school car that I have kept for the last 30 years I was hoping to restore it back up to its full glory but I never have been able to do it. This is a 1968 numbers matching Formula S I have owned the car since the late 70's and titled it when I turned 16 in 1981. I have started the car regularly at least once or twice every few months or so. There is bubbling in the paint it is on the lower rear quarter fenders mostly but a little on the front fenders and on the door I will try to show it in the pictures. The car does need to be restored some of the pictures make the paint look a little better than it is. This was a fast car in high school I never did loose a race. I'm sure there was some faster but it would have been a Mopar I'm sure. I love the car it would be a great car to restore just do me a favor and don't let me see it done and I hope it goes somewhere far and warm. the original seat color was white with white door panels I had purchased a 67 for some parts for my convertible and switched the dark blue seats and door panels from that car because they where in better shape not so yellow but i did love the white in this car and was planning on putting them back to white . The car runs I haven't had it out on the road for years now. Its not a car that you can drive home when the car sits the tranny fluid seems to leak out but I cant see it doing it. I have heard that the 727 will do that from sitting. I went to move the car and it was slipping a little I will check the fluid again to see if it is low. I am selling this car as is where is it does need to be completly restored to be all it can be. One stupid thing I did was in 1986 I desided I wanted the car a darker blue the guy that painted it fogged the door jams and under the hood some but didn't do a very good job about a year later in 1987 I had a guy paint it back to the right color but didn't pay much and I left the door jams and under the hood then I told myself the next time I paint this car I will do it right. The headliner was coming down so I took it down the rest of the way and I have the rods that go there. I will answer your questions best I can I had the car stripped down waiting to get painted but with my kids and all it just never happened. My kids do come first and I wouldnt have it any other way. I put on the old parts I had back on I didn't plan on reusing them, some are just finger tight because they will just be taken back off I'm sure and I had planed on using all new parts when I brought her back. Besides that I always hated seeing cars for sale all torn apart with boxes full of parts not knowing how to put it back together. In the pictures you will see I don't have the lower rear trunk trim piece it was to damaged to use but most of the other parts are there. The tach in the dash is original and works great it has the front disk brakes like all formula S cars. It has the automatic on the tree, its the only Formula S I have seen without the consol. The 68 has always been my favorite CUDA, I'm not needing another car so please dont ask to trade expecially if its a ford or chevy or some other make that would be more than I could take. The car has never been stolen or wrecked when I bought the car it had a small dent in the passanger door and front fender it looked like a parking lot dent so it has some filler there. also the last time I painted it I put some filler in the rear quarter panels down low it has some bubbling there and on some of the other panels mostly down low I tried to show it in the pictures. It does have the original rear end and tranny and engine If you know where to look for a number I can do that. I'm not sure if the fender tag tells that info or not. I hope this helps. Thanks for looking and happy bidding I am selling the car locally so I may end the auction early if it sells. I am selling the car as is where is it can be seen at my shop during the week all day long if you would like to come and look at the car I will try to answer your questions best I can I'm not trying to hide anything I'm trying not to leave anything out so just ask if you have a question. I was asked to add a little more info. The car has the original 340 engine in the car I haven't done anything to the motor its pretty much stock it has the original Carter 4 barrel carb and its original dual pionts of course they have been changed. it has front disk brakes. at yearone they have a code for the vin # if you want to see it follow this link. http://www.yearone.com/yodnn/tech/VehicleInfoDecoding/MoparDecoding/MoparVINDecoding/MoparVIN19681974/tabid/329/Default.aspx
