This auction is for a 1999 VW GTI being sold as-is, where is. There is no warranty expressed or implied, so please bid accordingly. Please read the full description. This is a no reserve auction and the vehicle will sell to the final and last bidder. We purchased this car for our Nephew in October of 2007 with about 60,000 miles on it. Recently, the automatic transmission started to slip and although it still runs and drives, the car no longer shifts into the higher gears. Car will shift into 1st and 2nd, but starts to slip when it shifts into 3rd. The car will only reach 45 mph. This car was running and driving normally and used every day until the transmission failed. It was routinely serviced. A new transmission at the VW dealer is simply too expensive to warrant repairing the car so we have decided to sell the GTI as-is, where-is to the highest bidder. Use the car for parts, or repair and continue to drive it. Here is a list of other items or known issues with the car: • A used Catalytic Converter was installed in the summer of 2008 but it still seems to be malfunctioning via the engine exhaust sensors, check engine light stays on. • The windshield wiper sprayers do not work. • The transmission is not working properly as stated in the above description. • There is a piece broken off on the power mirror control switch. • There are some small rust spots behind front wheels (see photos). • The center console armrest cover is missing. • Front air dam (bottom spoiler) is falling off on driver’s side as you can see in the picture (easy fix). • The Airbag light is on, reason is unknown. • The check engine light is on, reason unknown, possibly has to do with the catalytic converter and oxygen sensor. • The front tires are OK, but will need replacement soon. Rear tires are fine.• The cruise control does not work and never has since we purchased it. • Some very small dents and normal wear and tear for a car with 100,000 miles on it. See the photos. Overall, the body panels are good.• The car has never been painted and the original factory finish still presents well given the age and miles. • Retail on this car in good condition is $4,000-$6,000, which is simply a point of reference. The buyer is fully responsible for transporting the car. The car will most likely need to be towed/transported unless you are a local buyer. The car is being sold as-is, where-is and no refunds will be issued for any reason. Please ask any questions and they will be answered honestly and quickly.
