Vehicle Detail

I have up for auction a 1967 BMW R60/2 600cc Motorcycle. I purchased it locally, from the original owner, with the intentions of restoring it, however I have since decided to sell due to the lack of time and money. The bike was purchased new on March 14, 1967 from Seymour Fredette Motorcycles of 427 East Third Street, in Dayton, Ohio. The Owner (a teen at the time) rode the bike for a few seasons and joined the US Marine Corps . The bike was stored in his fathers basement for several years. When he returned home the engine was stuck. Some time later, the owner had a Mechanic (so called) look at the bike. The mechanic dismantled the heads and cylinders. In an attempt at freeing the rings, he broke one or more of the lands between the rings. There the bike sat until a month ago when I purchased it. First the Good; I have a clear Indiana title in my name stating the actual mileage of 6438. The paint has many small scratches and scrapes, but would buff out to be presentable. Numbers matching frame and engine. 18111XX Very original unmolested bike, (not counting the botched ring job), with great sheet metal. Cylinder bores look good with no scoring. Heads are nice with no chipped fins and great exhaust spigot threads. No cracks or repairs in the engine or transmission. The wiring appears to be unmolested. Now the bad; The bike will need new pistons, rings and gaskets. One of the carburetor slides along with the carb top and cable was lost. One cylinder bolt was lost. Some of the Hardware (nuts and washers) were lost. One large dent in the tank, above the knee pad. One small dent on top of the tank. Bent shift lever. Exhaust system is toast. I drilled the toolbox lock hoping to find a tool kit. (no such luck) Light to med. rust on rims spokes and other chrome, the handlebars are pretty rusty. Most rubber parts are toast (tires, boots, etc.) You are welcome to come by and check the bike out. I live in southern indiana 16 miles due north of Louisville Ky.
