Vehicle Detail

A "barn" find of a very early production TR6. Believed to have been built in Sept or Oct of 1968. These early TR6s are the true collector series of the TR6 range, as they have many one year only production parts. Such as seats, dash ignition switch, steering wheel, steel wheels, fender beading, paint schemes, etc. This particular car is on the edge of a viable restoration if it were any other year TR6., but because of its historic value it deserves to be restored and will be repaid investment wise in years to come. I as well as many others have restored much worse cars with far less historic value. I am now past the age where I can do it without daily body aches. Check the Comm number, this car was built in 1968 and is under the first 1000 built. It is a survivor. Read up on the history of the early cars, they were built as Triumph wanted them, with little Gov't intervention. They have the high compression engines and the numericaly quicker transmissions. the car itself:....as can be seen, rust is the issue, it has rust thru at the front outside corners of both floors, backs of floors still good. Rockers inner are rusted out, fenders have rust but are savable, trunk floor rust out in corner but is savable.General rust on the outer panels. Battery box is surprisingly solid. Frame will need repair at the usual place where the trailing arms bolt on. Engine compartment has a rust thru under the brake master. This car has 31K miles reading, I believe it to be correct, but can not guarantee. It has had one repaint only, white over original Jasmine yellow. There is a small dent under the left front turn signal. The engine does run when gas is squirted into the carbs, but the line is unhooked from the gas tank to avoid old gas.. The trans shifts thru all gears. This is not a drivable car. I have not checked the brakes. It is surprisingly complete and original, altho not 100 percent.I pulled the carpet out to show the floors The original convertable top is there but in shreds, the top frame is there but missing a rivet in a link. The dash is savable and it still has its glove box. Please notice that this car is relatively unmolested, poorly taken care of maybe but not cobbled by unwitting hacks, no ugly cobbled up welding done anywhere, no trash work to undo before you even start to restore. An honest car with out the usual hack attacks then put on ebay to sell to some other poor soul... Please look at all of the photos and ask any questions you may have This is a historicly valueable car deserving of saving. This TR6 could be a running driving yard car in an afternoons work. On Apr-29-10 at 05:10:53 PDT, seller added the following information: Triumph offered overdrive on all their TR series cars right from the beginning......as an option. from 1953 to production end, for TR2 to TR6 in 1976. This early car does not have that option, but I do have the correct A type mainshaft and adapter plate that I may auction later that would allow the change over of the trans to over drive with the additional purchase of a O/D unit. So this car could be converted to O/D with minimal O/D expense. Please no emails after auction ends. thank you. Please read: if you have less than 10 biddings behind your name, please email me before you bid or less than stellar ethics please don't bid, it will be cancelled.Life is to short to waste on ner'e do wells.
