Vehicle Detail
Up for sale is a 1965 Chevrolet El Camino that is a good driver quality car. This is not a show car by no means - as you will see in the pictures - the person I bought it from was not a body man. He attempted to do body work, gave up and took it to maaco. Has a nice Blue paint job and it is recent, but to be a show car - someone needs to get on it with a long flat air sander. Car overall does not have alot of rust. The floors are good - were fixed correctly a few years ago - the only cancer still visible on the car is underneath on the inside of the inner panels at the rear. Frame is solid and strong. Front of car is excellent. Not a rust bucket by no means. I purchased the car in Colorado - and drove it 750 miles home to Texas - yes, drove. I then proceded to make it a true driver car - and was going to do the body work later. It has a early model 1970-1973 Chevrolet 350 motor coupled to a 350 turbo tranny. Motor runs excellent and will blow the doors off others on the highway. The car had alot done to it in order to make sure it is safe to run - was before, but now I would be comfortable (and am) using it as a daily driver. Tranny shifts great. The following has been done to it in order to make it a street worthy car: 1966 Chevelle seat - re-upholstered by westside trim and glass in fort worth in Vynyl New carpet New door Panels New Headliner (needs to be pulled tighter) Summit Gauges (water and Oil Pressure) Dash Panel replaced with Aftermarket (says chevelle on it) All factory gauges work now - except for the odometer. Worked great until I replaced Speedo cable 150 miles ago) Gauge lighting all replaced New speedometer cable 1966 GTO Steering Column Painted and Installed - lights up too 15X7 Rally Wheels with 215 70 15 Cooper Cobra Tires - 200 miles ago Front Classic Shocks installed Rear - Gabriel Air Shocks Grant GT Steering Wheel New Flasher Rear End Completely re-wired (Old flatwire cable was worn out - replaced with new wiring to tailights) Seat Belts (Lap) Installed Visors Recovered and Installed New Hood Bumpers Installed Floor Mats Horn - updated newer model Firewall Plugged New Exhaust from Headers back - complete with Great Sounding Glasspacks - done 1 week ago) New Water Pump installed Fuel Sender in Gas Tank Replaced - Fuel Gauge works Vent Window locks Installed New Thermostat New hoses Braided Stainless Hose Covers SunPro Tachometer Chrome Valve Covers Edelbrock Air Cleaner Edelbrock 650 CFM Carburetor Newer GM Alternator installed (80 amp) with internal regulator ( i bypassed the old one - too un-reliable) The only things that need to be addressed by the new owner that I have identified are: Needs Glovebox Needs Radio Installed (I have the antenna - but did not install it or a radio since that is a preference of the buyer usually.) Heater inop - I busted the heater core trying to replace the hoses - so I just re-routed for now - my advice would be go with a AC set from the guys in Denton for $900) It's about to be summer - no hurry to get that done Body Work Body Work - did I say body work? All of the lights and wiring has been brought up to today's standards so that I could get it inspected - a requirement for cars in Texas. This one passed and Is now a daily driver. I recommend you come see the car before you buy-it. I do not want any surprises after the auction/sale of the vehicle. If you don't understand what a 20 footer is - then please do not bid. Feel free to email me with any questions about the car - if you are in the DFW area - I will meet you in the west fort worth area to show the car - if from out of town - I will deliver it to you at the airport if you wish. Thanks and good luck.
