Vehicle Detail
figure8fever Store 2-door 1954 Chevy DEL RAY. I have been storing this car for 10 years. I was told by the previous owner that the Del Ray model is more rare than the other Chevy models. I hate to let it go, but I am tired of paying storage, I really don't have room for it, and I don't have time to restore it. The car ran and drove, when I bought it, but a mechanic said it needed a new head. I got a new head at a machine shop here in Indianapolis, but never got it properly installed. The car has not been started, since getting the new head. It has been stored for 10 years. It has started leaking oil, since being stored. I don't know if the freeze plug has come out, or if it's something more serious. The body is fairly solid, except for the lower rocker panels and quarter panels. Under carriage has lots of surface rust, but there are no cracks or breaks. Floor board does have some rust-through in some places (see photos). Odometer says "79,939", the title says "exempt". The interior has the very classy 2-tone (white and blue) pattern that was the trademark of the Del Ray models. Interior is not bad for its age. The carpet on the floor has been removed. It has a manual transmission on the column. It does have a clear title, but I have misplaced the keys over the past 10 years. The previous owner put corvette rally's on the wheels. I believe they were put in the trunk prior to storing, but I don't have the key to get in and find out. The beauty rings are still on the wheels. The car will have to be towed. Buyer is responsible for pick up/delivery. I am starting the bidding at $999.00 with NO RESERVE. High bidder gets this rare diamond in the rough. My asking price is much less than I paid for the car 10 years ago. This 56 year old Chevy is being sold "as is". A non-refundable PayPal deposit of $300.00 is required within 2 days of auction's end. The remaining balance must be paid within 7 days of auction's end. Seller reserves the right to end auction early for local sale. If you live anywhere near Indianapolis, I encourage you to come and check it out. I am not a mechanic, but I will try to answer questions to the best of my knowledge. If you have any questions, please contact me through eBay or call 317-491-5198. This is a NO RESERVE auction, and the high bidder gets this car, so if you have any questions about the Chevy, please ask them BEFORE the auction ends. Serious bidders only, please. I don't want a malicious bidder to ruin it for me and everyone else. I want to sell the ol' car. I don't want to hassle with having to re-list it, because of a less-than-serious bidder. Thanks. On May-02-10 at 08:54:08 PDT, seller added the following information: This hard-to-find 1954 Del Ray has bids and WILL GO to the highest bidder!
