Vehicle Detail
1969 RS SS CAMARO 396 4SPD This is a real RS SS Camaro. It is a 12A build car. It misses the x codes by 1 week, but all SS/RS equipment is present. I researched this on various websites and in Jerry MacNeish’s book on 69 Camaros. The SS disc brakes with all factory brackets and hardware are present. It has a Muncie speedo cable exit on the firewall. The car has a dual exhaust hanger bracket on the left side frame rail. The hole for the 4-speed shifter is torch cut in the trans tunnel. The hole in the firewall for the RS vacuum hoses is present. The holes in the trunk floor for the reverse lamps are also present. The RS lamp brackets are all in place, but the canisters are removed because they are frozen. The RS lamp covers work manually so you can drive at night. Body: The body on the car is nice; correct Hugger Orange color; the hockey stick stripe is painted on under the basecoat clear coat paint. There are a few small bubbles in the door – see pics. The car has new emblems, bumpers, rear bumper guards, front plate bracket, rocker moldings, front spoiler with correct brackets, quarter window seals and trunk mat. The vinyl top is in great shape with no rips or tears. It has a small ding on the left front fender, some chips here and there, but it does not need paint or a total restoration. It looks great, smooth and shiny and it’s HUGGER ORANGE! It always turns heads and gets many compliments. The motor is a 396 854 casting oval port. Freshened up mild cam, runs great, does not overheat. Freshly detailed under the hood. New hoses, belt, aluminum radiator, big block shroud, hooker, headers, balancer, battery, wire set, intake manifold, oil change, air filter, coolant, alternator and starter. Motor looks great, assembled with new fasteners and attention to detail, like wire retainers, green throttle return spring, correct breather elbow. There is a new clutch setup, freshly cut flywheel and new hardware was used when installed. 621 big block bell housing and correct big block cross member. Factory 12-bolt posi, BL code 307 ratio, multi-leaf springs, M20 Munci trans with the car’s VIN stamped on case. Factory roundbar shifter and a new factory shift boot and ring. The trans is quiet and shifts good; good cruiser with 307 gears. Has bolt-on subframe connectors and Lakewood slap bars, muscle car era stuff. New Flowmaster exhaust with crossover tube sounds great. The undercarriage is painted satin black; very clean and detailed. Factory disc brakes with frame valve, hose clips on A-Arms, break valve under booster. Have the original 309 master cylinder and one 2-piece original rotor, but not on the car. Tires are 5/32” tread, 215 70 15 front, 255 60 15 rear. Bigger in the rear, but not too big; car has a good stance. New torque thrust original wheels, 15x7. 60’s muscle car look. Interior: Black standard interior with new carpet. The headliner, seat covers and door panel and package tray have all been replaced; there are no tears in dash pad. It has a new SS steering wheel. All seatbelts are there, except for shoulder belts. Cool car with no console and 4-speed. All business! New vintage gauges, Stewart Warner mechanical and the vintage Sun tach also works. Gas gauge works, lights work, directional’s work. There is no radio in the car, but I have a factory AM radio. I also have a good heater control panel that goes with the car. Super sharp, Super Sport Camaro. You may want to change a few things to make it your own….wheels or tires, whatever you like, but I think it looks great just the way it is. I know I may have forgotten something. Any questions, just call (201) 317-9112. NO TRADES!! The car is up for sale locally so the auction may end at any time. To see more photos go to http://www.fototime.com/inv/E02775E499939B7
