Vehicle Detail

1971 BMW 2800CS Southern California - 4 Speed and Sunroof with only 77,272 actual miles!! This very nice BMW E9 Coupe was imported from Germany to Southern California in 1972, by Mr. Oziel of Van Nuys. The 'Malaga Red' beauty stayed in his ownership until his death last year. He took exceptional care of the car and used it only sparingly. . .the resulting low mileage beauty is now offered here: Of course the original condition of this Coupe is reflected in the odometer reading: That's right - 77,272 miles in nearly 40 years - fully documented too! The documentation saved with this car is incredible, featuring the "Auftrag" or Sales Order from September 12, 1972. Also included are various import/export and shipping papers, the first 1972 dated DMV temporary registration and original "Pink Slip", Owners manuals and Service records, etc. . .all saved in 2 filled 3 ring binders. I have over 30 photos posted of this documentation. As told to me by his nephew, Mr. Oziel was married to a German lady and they traveled regularly to visit her family in Germany. He decided to buy this car in the fall of 1972 on one of their visits. The earliest documents also show the necessary changes for the USA that were handled at Hyde Park Motors in LA. A very thorough and interesting history. . . This car is in overall good condition, but not perfect, however a well preserved example. The paint is a little thin in places, and spot painted in others, but still looks nice. The body is accident free, but there is a small ding on the rear bumper right side and a crack in the tail light above. Of course, the car has alway resided in Southern California and is rust free as one would expect. Check it out: The Interior is impressive, all original except the 4 pieces of carpet from the floors (not worn out, lost by a detailer). The dash pad and wood are in great condition. Door panels very good and original too. The seats are the original German style cloth, note - the drivers seatback had a tear which was repaired. The headliner is discolored and a little frayed around the sunroof. The Trunk is all original and very nice. Most of the tools are present in their BMW unique holder, and the jack and spare are correct and nice too. The engine compartment is super clean and original too. The service records show the car was well maintained, however it has not been used regularly since the late 80's when the mileage was 73,000. Despite the long period of slumber the family had the car serviced last year to get it running again. The motor starts easily, sounds great, runs cool, and has plenty of power. No surprise, with the foundation being an honest 77,000 mile car. The carbs are the original Zenith's and are 'coldblooded', needing some attention. The 4 speed is quiet, but the 2nd gear synchro is slow and their is a 'clicking' noise at idle?? And finally, the old tires were replaced with new 'H' rated radial tires. The new radials made a huge difference too. The car is now smooth and steady once again. . . Thanks for looking. This is a great car with exceptional documentaion, local inspections are welcomed. I also have over 100 detailed photos posted on the web, just email for the link or with any questions. Payment and Shipping Please, bid on this car only if you are serious about owning it and have the funds available. Payment is due in full within 7 days of the end of the auction. The car comes with a clear California Certificate of Title. The vehicle is sold "as is, where is," with no warranty. Transportation is the responsibility of the new owner. Seller reserves the right to end the auction at any time. After the auction has ended, the sale price is final. Thank you and good luck!
