Up for Bid - 1938 Diamond T 201 Pick Up Truck.This truck is #367 of 367 201s produced in 1938, making it last 201 off the assembly line in 1938. 1938 was the first year for the 201 model, and it had a one-year-only grille. There are very few 1938 201 trucks with pick up beds in existence. A restored 1938 201 Deluxe model pick up was sold last February for $104,500 (Barrett Jackson, Scottsdale).This truck was originally gloss Green with Gold pinstriping. It was bought new and re-painted 'Army' Green by the US govt.It was then purchased by a farmer in 1948. The truck was used for ten years then parked in a field in 1958.The truck had sunk in dirt up to the bottom of the brake drums when I pulled it out. It will need wheels and possibly brakes/drums due to rust. The truck is still on the trailer from when I loaded it. Engine condition is unknown, transmission shifter seems operational. I was told by the previous owner that the truck was having fuel delivery problems when parked in 1958. A couple of freeze plugs are missing.The truck is missing glass, gas tank, horn and a bumper. An emblem and trim strip is missing off of one side of the hood,There are also some missing small trim pieces from the chin panel below the grille. There may be other items missing that I'm not thinking of or I am unaware of. Please look at the pictures and make your own assessment.Most of the missing items are not too hard to find as they were the same as parts from other Diamond Ts produced through 1949. This truck is a standard model, so there are fewer parts to find to make a correct restoration. This truck may also be a good candidate for a modern or vintage drive train swap.The frame looks to be solid with only surface rust. The body is solid with the exception of some rust inthe bottom of the doors, very bottom of the cab panel below the doors, the bed side, bed floor and cab floor.The truck has a few dents and dings as well as a hammered out left front fender. The passenger door and hinges need work to be operational (stiff opening).Both door latches will need work as well as the windshield cranks. Bidders should assume most of the 78 year old components will require some level of or restoration or rebuild . Vehicle is being sold as is, where is. Buyer has 12 days to pick vehicle after payment in full. The front wheels and one rear wheel do not roll (then again, look at the square tires). It may be possible to roll with some work, I have not tried. I pulled the truck on the trailer with a winch. I now have wheel dollies and can assist loading onto a buyers transporter. Also, as mentioned in the description, I think the wheels will need to be replaced, they don't look like they can be repaired to me. On Apr-23-10 at 06:39:23 PDT, seller added the following information: I was asked about the truck seat and cab floor. The seat frame and coils are present, it will need complete upholstery. The truck needs a bottom floor panel, at least from the seat forward to the rise of the toe panel.
