Vehicle Detail
I am parting with this awesome V8 conversion as I have 2 FJ55s and must choose between them. They lucky buyer of this truck will no doubt get it for far less than has been put into and save themselves a lot of work, time and money. It is currently my daily driver and as you will see from the bulleted lists below has had a lot of work done to it. You pretty much just need to get some gauge cables to match the nice Faria gauges, make a panel to fit them into the dash, add a glove box, heater tower, dash top and stereo - and the entire interior will have been completely re-done. The exterior is solid, with very minor rust spots. If you love these trucks as I do, and appreciate the V8 conversion, then this is the solid truck for you! Email me and I will send you my number so you can call me on my cell if you have any questions at all about this truck. You can bid with confidence. Here is what makes this FJ55 a screamin' deal: Previous owner added extra springs - drives like a truck and does NOT have that freaky wobble that they usually due when slamming in the breaks on the freeway. Almost no play whatsoever in the steering wheel.Strong clutch that engages quickly A brand new Napa starterI replaced the transfer case - from a late 80s FJ60 or 62 and is much stronger and as capable of withstanding the extra torque of the v8.Previous owner: stripped the interior, cut out the rust, re-welded the floorboards and sprayed with Rhino Liner. Previous owner: had Artful Expressions Auto Interiors (in LA) reupholster the front bucket seats with arm rests from a Montero LE Previous owner: had Artful Expressions Auto Interiors (in LA) reupholster the rear seat to match front Previous owner: had Artful Expressions Auto Interiors (in LA) reupholster the door panels. Previous owner: Headliner is also new and clean Previous owner: Fuel-injected GM 5.7 liter V8 installed by Turbo City (http://www.turbocity.com)Previous owner: V8 is mated it to a two-speed overdrive which in turn acts as the adapter between the new engine and the stock Toyota transfer case and transmission. Previous owner: Fuel injection computer installedPrevious owner: Dual Tube air intake with K&N Style filtersPrevious owner: Hi-flow exhaust & mufflerPrevious owner: New battery - 650 Cold Cranking AmpsPrevious owner: Heavy-duty AlternatorPower Steering pump is in place - not hooked up to anything.Previous owner: V8 Transfercase Crossmember MountPrevious owner: Additional engine cooling with Perma-Cool remote oil cooling system with electric fan Previous owner: Front disc brake conversion w/new padsPrevious owner: Upgraded Warn hubs - 333-193 Warn Locking HubsPrevious owner: One year Old Goodyear Tracker 31 x 10.5 x 15 tires - (5 tires: The spare matches), plenty of tread Previous owner: Specter Off Road carpet kitPrevious owner: Lev O GuagesPrevious owner: Con Fer roof rack (used)Previous owner: Faria guagesPrevious owner: Relocated parking brake w/custom Lokar lever and boot Previous owner: Monroe Shocks up front - air assist in rearset up for towingPrevious owner: Tinted windowsPrevious owner: New bushing kit and lift-kit (longer shackles) not installed but included Things you should know: The odometer has not been hooked up, so I do not know how many miles the rebuild has on it. The previous owner told me he put about a thousand miles on it driving around LA. And while I use it most days, I live in a small town in oregon and drive it less than 5 or 6 miles a day when I do. I would be surprised if I have put more than 1500 miles on it since I got it. I listed it as 4000 miles....Some of the pictures show a jack attached to the roof rack. This does not exist, and was either stolen when being shipped up here, or was never included when it was sent to me. So the jack is not included in this sale. The previous owner did not provide me with any receipts, but you will see that the work has been done and has been done well. Small list of what this FJ55 Needs: Gauge mounting panel for high end Faria gauges (or buy a stock instrument cluster and panel). All gauges are in new condition and have power. The speedometer and fuel gauges need cables. All the others (Tach, temp and oil pressure are hooked up and work great). Center heater and fan towerrear passenger and driver side window handle cranks Small amount of body work There is visible rust in a three inch long rust spot on the front passenger fender (right behind the tire). There are no major dings or dents The rocker panels, door panels. side panels, hood etc are all smooth, ready for a light sanding and a paint job. Current paint is primered sand. Car stereo and speakersOne of my 7 year olds broke the inside door opening thing by using it as a handle to shut the door. But it still shuts and latches and opens from the inside. So this rear drivers side door release needs to be replaced. It needs a glove box and glove box door. It needs a dash cap. Someone who loves FJ55s and wants a nice rig will enjoy this 'mostly done project' AND save a lot of money in the process. If you were to buy a car in this condition and do the work here is how much it would cost: $3,000 - Approximate Initial purchase $7,000 (If not more...)
