Even though no water had gotten inside the car, the insurance company, rather than dealing with an upset owner decided to total the car. We got the car into our shop and did a full service on the car using BMW filters and Fully Synthetic Mobil1 0w-40 oil. We checked all the fluids in the transmission, transfer case, and diff's. They were all clean and free of water. There was no standing water on the interior of the car so the seats and upholstery are clean and still have a new smell. We computer scanned the car and found all the electronics to be functioning properly with no stored fault codes in the computers. After a thorough test drive we are pleased to report that this 540 runs & drives smoothly, is mechanically sound and has no check engine lights on.
