Vehicle Description Hello and thank you for looking at my auction. My name is Joe and I sell vehicles differently than most dealers. Buying your next car or truck through one of my NO RESERVE auctions is the best way to take the games out of your next automotive purchase. I personally road test each vehicle before it is offered for sale so I can give you my first hand opinion of how it runs and drives. Please keep in mind that... I am not a mechanic. Each vehicle is represented accurately and honestly to the best of my knowledge and ability. Please take the time to check out each of the nearly 80 photos and read this entire written description, as well as our Terms & Conditions, carefully BFEORE asking questions or placing a bid as most answers can be found in at least one of those places. An administrative fee of $149 will be added to the final bid of each auction. Up for a NO RESERVE auction is a 2003 Volkswagen Jetta GLI. I would rate the exterior of this Jetta to be in AVERAGE CONDITION for its age and mileage. As you can see, this is a good looking sedan. It is finished in red over gray, which is a good color combination. As with any older vehicle, please expect a few flaws and imperfections commensurate with age and mileage. On this specific Jetta, there is clear coat missing from the roof in front of the sunroof...which is visible in the photos. Otherwise, not much to complain about for a higher mileage vehicle. The body lines are all nice and straight. The hood, doors and trunk all open and close easily. All of the trim and moldings are present and show well. All of the glass and lenses are intact. The alloy wheels show well and are wrapped in nice rubber with good tread all around. Again, please take your time and check out each of the photos carefully. I would rate the interior of this Jetta to be in AVERAGE CONDITION for its age and mileage. The door cards show well for their age and are tight. The dash and headliner are clean. The deeply bolstered cloth seats are clean and comfortable. Both front seats are heated. The power windows, locks, mirrors and sunroof all open and close easily. The factory radio has been upgraded with an aftermarket touch screen entertainment system, which appears to be working properly but I couldn't figure out how to tune it to get a station so I cannot comment on the speakers. The climate control system appears to be working properly. The heater works but the air conditioner will need charged or serviced as it does not blow cold air. The trunk is spacious and clean. Again, please take your time and check out each of the photos carefully. Mechanically, this Jetta appears to be in good running and driving condition. The optional 2.8L VR6 engine starts easily and runs smoothly. I didn't notice any leaks and the engine does not smoke. Her road manners are good for an older vehicle. You can feel a little play in the front bushings but nothing terrible. It feels solid on the road and drives straight. The engine keeps perfect temperature and feels strong. The check engine light is on. The code stored is P0420 (catalyst efficiency below threshold). I'm on the fence with this one. A P420 code doesn't always mean the catalytic converter is bad...but I have a feeling this Jetta will need a new cat. The engine makes great power and revs freely to redline, but it does smell hot after driving. You can probably drive it where you need to go but I would plan on replacing the catalytic converter soon. The clutch engages smoothly and does not slip or chatter. Gear changes through the six speed manual transmission are nice and clean, as they should be. Out on the highway, this Jetta drives nice and straight. This is a very hard to find Jetta. The GLI's are hard to find and the VR6 ones are even fewer. If you're looking for a fun, fun car...this Jetta definitely packs a punch. Thanks for looking and good luck bidding.
