My name is Joe and I sell vehicles differently than most dealers. Buying your next car or truck through one of my NO RESERVE auctions is the best way to take the games out of your next automotive purchase. I personally road test each vehicle before it is offered for sale so I can give you my first hand opinion of how it runs and drives. Please keep in mind that... I am not a mechanic. Each vehicle is represented accurately and honestly to the best of my knowledge and ability. Please take the time to check out each of the 70+ photos and read this entire written description, as well as our Terms & Conditions, carefully BEFORE asking questions or placing a bid as most answers can be found in at least one of those places. An administrative fee of $149 will be added to the final bid of each auction. Up for a NO RESERVE auction is a 2004 Ford Explorer Eddie Bauer 4x4. I would rate the exterior of this Explorer to be in AVERAGE CONDITION for its age and mileage. As you can see, this is a good looking truck. It is finished in two tone Red Fire Metallic over Tan trim with matching two tone Tan leather interior, which is a good color combination. The dark red finish shines nicely and looks smooth all around. As with any older vehicle, please expect a few flaws and imperfections commensurate with age and mileage. On this specific Explorer, there is a scrape in front of the left tail light that should be visible in the photos. Aside from that, you'd be hard pressed to find anything worth complaining about as you walk around the exterior of this Explorer Eddie Bauer. The body lines are all nice and straight. The hood, doors and tail gate all open and close easily. All of the trim and cladding is present and shows well. All of the glass and lenses are intact. The factory alloy wheels show well for their age and are wrapped in nice rubber with average tread all around. Please take your time and check out each of the photos carefully to see how clean this Explorer came in. The most important thing to note is the lack of body rust around the fenders and rockers, where these are known to rust. I would rate the interior of this Explorer to be in ABOVE AVERAGE CONDITION for its age and mileage. The door cards are clean and tight. The dash and headliner are clean, too. The carpets are clean and full looking throughout the interior. The leather trimmed seats are clean, comfortable and show minimal wear. Both front seats are heated. The power windows, locks, seats, mirrors and sunroof all work properly. The climate control system is fully automatic and offers independent temperature settings for both the driver and passenger. The heater works well and the air conditioner blows ICE COLD AIR, too. The original radio has been upgraded with a Kenwood in-dash CD player which sounds good through the factory speakers. Access to the 3rd row is simple and there is a respectable amount of room in the rear. The cargo area is clean. When not in use, the 3rd row easily folds flat to open up a generous amount of storage capacity. A full set of floor mats is included. Again, please take your time and check out each of the photos carefully. Mechanically, this Explorer appears to be in good running and driving condition but does need a few things. The 4.0L V6 starts easily and runs smoothly. I didn't notice any leaks and the engine does not smoke. Her road manners are good for an older vehicle. Steering and braking feel good, too. The engine keeps perfect temperature and excellent oil pressure. The V6 feels strong and runs well, as it should. The check engine light is on. The code is for a bad signal from the transmission range sensor to TCM. The transmission range sensor is the sensor that detects where you move the gear selector so the computer knows what to tell the transmission to do. The truck drives fine. It shifts normally and does not slip, hunt or misbehave. The only symptom I noticed is that it will sometimes go into neutral when sitting still. When you give it gas to go, it figures out what to do and will go. Once you're going, everything seems fine. The only other thing I noticed that this truck sounds like it will need is a new front hub. I'm not sure which side is making noise, but it's definitely a front. You should be fine to drive it locally but I wouldn't want to go super far on that noisy hub. Longer distance buyers should plan to ship it. Local-ish buyers should be okay to drive. The 4WD system is tested and working properly. Out on the highway, she drives nice and straight. My only complaint would be the aforementioned noisy hub. If you're looking for a clean 4x4 to tackle winter, this rugged 2004 Explorer Eddie Bauer would be an excellent choice. Vehicles left longer than 14 days without prior written permission may be assessed a storage fee of $10/ day. Storage fees will be deducted first from any monies paid to Liberty Auto Exchange.
