Vehicle Detail
Up for auction is a beautiful 1965 Buick Riviera. The pinnacle of automotive design for the 1960's. The car is Silver Cloud Metallic and the paint shows very well. The interior is black vinyl and has all been restored. The car drives very well and can be driven with confidence. This Riviera retains its original 401 nailhead engine and transmission. The power steering pump has been rebuilt along with the original 4 barrel carburetor. This Riviera is a three owner car. It was originally Turquoise Mist, repainted in 1992 by the original owner. It also comes with a factory installed black vinyl roof. Only one in twelve Rivieras came with this option. The clam shell headlights work without issue. The clam - shell motor has been rebuilt. All of the instrumentation works as well as the clock and the radio, both of which have been refurbished. The speed-minder also works. An original passenger-side mirror has been installed for added safety.New and replaced equipment include new mufflers, shocks, starter and battery with cut-off switch for long term storage.Included in the sale will be maintenance records going back to the 1970's. Original Owners Guide, bill of sale and Guardian Maintenance Guide with its protect-o-plate. Also a 1965 Buick Parts Book and a 1965 Body Service Manual. In addition this Riviera was in the 2015 movie " Coming Through the Rye". It can be seen 3 times in the movie. A full story about the making of the move and car's scenes can be read in the July/August edition of the "Review", the Riviera Owner's Association magazine. There are two items that I would address in the future. The gas gauge tends to react slowly to gas usage. Installing a new sending unit would solve that problem. The gas lines also shutter until the car has warmed up. Padded gas lines have been installed and helps the issue. The underside of the car is typical for it's age with flaking undercoating and wear. This Riviera is a pleasure to drive and gets attention wherever I go.Thank you for looking at my 1965 Buick Riviera.
