Vehicle Detail

UPDATE (9/27) - If you are interested in these vehicles, please read the description again as I have added more detailed condition information. Also, I have added a bunch of new pictures to my Google Drive showing problem areas on the cars. I'll give you the link here, but I'm not sure if eBay still allows external links. If it shows as plain text, you should be able to copy and paste it to get to the pictures. If that doesn't work, drop me a message and I'll send you the link that way. https://drive.google.com/open?id=1lr3xmUeD3kcrhKGw_YoMRrlGPdpkW95Y ==================== Here is a pair of 1969 VW Squarebacks that have been sitting in my yard since they were last driven in 1986. The original plan was to combine the two into one good restoration. I have come to realize that this is one of those projects that I'm just never going to get to, so I'd like to pass the two vehicles on to someone who is interested in doing a restoration or who can at least use the parts. Both cars were running and driving when parked, but that was ages ago so you should plan on having to go through everything to see if it's useable or not. They have served as homes for innumerable field critters over the years. I just took an old shop-vac to them and got a lot of the mouse and pack-rat crud out of them, but you'll still find some and the insides don't smell very good. You should plan on some time with a pressure washer to blast out the insides. Here are some specifics for each car: Tan Car: Tan VIN: 369043385 The tan car is in a little better shape than the green one. The odometer shows 81,144 which I think is probably accurate. The left rear pop-out window is broken and there is a dent in the metal where the window was broken. The left rear tail light is broken. Windshield is bad/cracked. Front trunk and spare tire area look good, no significant rust. There is some surface rust on the roof, but the metal is solid. The sheet metal in the rear deck area looks OK and feels solid, but there is some surface rust in one corner. The floor under the battery area is intact and feels solid, but there is quite a bit of rust in that area. All other floors are intact and feel solid. Looking up from underneath there are no holes or major rust. The passenger door is sprung or misaligned and takes a lot of effort to close. The driver's side rocker panel under the door is rusted, with some holes as can be seen in the extra pictures. The passenger's side rocker panel under the door is better, with some rust and small holes. Green Car: Green VIN: 369160983 Odometer shows 28297, which I believe is 128,297. It once had a gas heater that has been removed so the cutouts are still there from when the heater was present. Front bumper is pretty badly bent. Windshield is bad/cracked. Front trunk and spare tire area look pretty solid. There is a little surface rust and the two cutouts where a gas heater was once installed. There is a dent in the left front fender. There is some surface rust on the roof, but the metal is solid. The sheet metal in the rear deck area looks OK and feels solid. The floor under the battery area is corroded and rusted completely through. Probably at least an 18" square piece of the floor will need replacing. All other floor areas look OK and feel solid. Looking up from underneath there are no holes or major rust. The driver's side rocker panel under the door is quite rusted, with several holes as can be seen in the extra pictures. The passenger's side rocker panel under the door is better, but also has some smaller rust holes. You are bidding on both cars for one price. If you only need one, please contact me and we'll try to work something out. If you place a bid and are not happy when you come to see the cars in person, I will cancel the deal and refund all funds you have paid. I have valid, clear titles for both vehicles. Please do check out the additional pictures that I have on my Google Drive, they will give you a much better idea of condition than the few pictures I could include in this listing. Feel free to contact me with any other questions.
