Vehicle Detail

This is my 2003 BMW K1200GT with 12,406 miles. I bought this bike in April with the hopes of long extended riding sessions, I put over $2,000 in additions, and now with our first child on the way it is one toy too many. Not having owned a BMW motorcycle before I have come to appreciate the outstanding build quality and its smooth uninhibited performance; crack the throttle and you'll be wearing an immediate grin. Coming from riding mostly cruisers myself, the handling of this bike was almost mind blowing, for having the taller stature of a Sport Tourer I was really surprised with just how well balanced it is. The braking, when working correctly (see below), is a real world example of being able to "stop on a dime." This is a very low mileage example of the harder to find GT and I think the 2.75" risers I added will help alleviate some of the ergonomic concerns for most riders. It is not perfect, there are a few small paint scuffs and scrapes that you can see more in person than in pictures, the biggest being 3" along the throttle-side BMW logo. But overall, it is a beautiful bike in great overall condition and certainly drew a lot of attention any time I took it out. Features: - 130HP inline 4 cylinder - 6 speed - cruise control - heated seat - heated grips - electronically adjustable windshield - Electronically assisted linked ABS brake system- Removable locking saddlebags- BMW outdoor cover Additions: - Full Remus exhaust system ($1500) - K&N air filter ($60) - 2.75” bar risers ($275) - Stainless steel braided brake lines ($225) (Professionally installed, have receipts) - New rear tire- LED lights all around- Amsoil oil change Needs: - State inspection - With the addition of the 2.75" bar risers created the necessity to run a longer brake line, so my intent was to give it the best all around by adding the Stainless Steel lines. Being the infamous servo assisted brake system, I knew this job was above my skill level so I had it done by a local motorcycle shop. The lines are all correctly fitted, there are no leaks, the clearance with the new risers is perfect, and the bike stops and is ridable. That being said, I am not yet happy with the turnout. Currently, the ABS warning lights are flashing, both at a stop and while riding and the lever/pedal feel is not as firm as I would have thought. The ABS light being also prevents the cruise control from engaging. The shop is saying that is because a BMW-specific diagnostic tool is needed to reset the computer which they did not have. Many owners do the "servoectomy" mod and basically do a servo delete, which is a quick fix, and would be the direction I would likely have gone if I were able to keep it. However, with a little one arriving any time now, I will not have time to get that done before the sale and this will be a task for the next owner. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions. This bike is being sold in "as-is" condition. I have represented this bike to the absolute best of my knowledge but, not being a mechanic myself, inspecting the bike before bidding is always recommended. No returns or refunds.
