Vehicle Detail
I am a member of the Cadillac & LaSalle Club, the Classic Car Club of America, and the Packard Club and being the resident "car guy" in my family, have been asked by my cousin to sell her cherished Cadillac DTS. This is one of the nicest Cadillacs I've ever had the pleasure of driving. It belonged to a very good friend who decided, in what was probably a bourbon-induced moment of idiocy, that he wanted a Range Rover instead. He was going to trade it in, but my cousin took one look at the periwinkle color (in Cadillac parlance, "Blue Diamond Tricoat") and said "I have to buy it." She could have bought anything, but fell in love with this car because of it's quiet ride and massaging seats. This car has been serviced at the dealership here in Birmingham its whole life. It lives in a climate-controlled garage that is, I'm not kidding here, nicer than my primary residence. I didn't even clean it up for the pictures seen here, but my cousin is going to have it fully detailed prior to pick up by its new owner. There are some small imperfections as to be expected on what is nearly a 10-year-old vehicle including some chrome flaking on one wheel (pictured) and some minor swirl marks, chips, scratches, etc. The car has been regularly maintained cosmetically with Griot's Garage products. The DTS itself came with an amazing list of options. Features include: Heated and cooled front seatsHeated rear seatsHeated steering wheelStandard dual-zone climate control on base packages and standard tri-zone climate control on uplevel packagesFactory-installed Adaptive Remote Start with personalizationRain-sensing wipersPower folding outside rearview mirrorsFront and rear ultrasonic park assistIntelliBeam automatic high-beam headlampsIn-dash six-CD changer and MP3 playerRadar-based adaptive cruise control (ACC) with audible and visual alertsDVD navigation system But this is no ordinary DTS. It's the Platinum Edition. So it has a lot more. Cadillac described it as "a distinctly higher level of premium luxury, with enhanced styling including 18-inch chromed wheels, bright chrome grille and chrome inserts on the exterior door handle lift bars, as well as an exclusive Platinum badge. It features the Northstar 4.6L V-8, rated at 292-horsepower (218 kW)*, and other performance-oriented features such as Magnetic Ride Control and Performance Algorithm shifting." Yeah, it will really fly for such a large car. Also, the Platinum Edition featured this car's "Light Linen over Cocoa" interior distinguished by light ash burl wood with decorative inlay, Tuscany full leather upholstery and hand-cut-and-sewn leather on the instrument panel top pad, console and door trim. French seams on the door panel inserts are additional details that add a touch of luxury. This extensive luxury package extends underfoot and even to the trunk, with unique floor mats and a richer trunk mat made of upgraded materials. A sunroof and DVD navigation system are standard, as is LED interior ambient footwell lighting. A headrest-mounted rear DVD audio/video system is available. A handcrafted, leather-wrapped heated steering wheel with authentic light ash burl wood and chrome rings – as well as chrome appointments, synthetic suede headliner and visors, and an illuminated Platinum badge on the door sill plate – complete the package. Additionally, the DTS’ disc brakes are manufactured with a ferritic nitro carburizing process that inhibits rust. This prevents the common oxidation on the brake rotors, which are visible through the DTS’ multi-spoke alloy wheels. Other comfort features included: A speed limit advisor with speed alert feature on the driver information center, via the navigation radio XM Satellite Radio NavTraffic that provides real-time traffic information and advisements New switches for the seats’ heat/cool features that are easier for daytime visibility Display enhancements for the base XM Satellite Radio provide artist and song title descriptions The sunroof control system is simplified and includes a new “express close” feature The valet key and steering column lock return as standard equipmentBuyers will note that the car fax will likely show an accident. A grocery buggy hit the driver's door, necessitating a repaint. That work was done by the dealership and is virtually indistinguishable from the rest of the paint.
